Die New York Times hat herausgefunden, wer hinter all dem Chatroulette-Wahnsinn steckt: Ein 17jähriger russischer Schüler. Erinnert alles natürlich sehr an m00t und 4chan.
The lingering mystery, though, was who was behind the site. The question was answered on Saturday when Andrey Ternovskiy responded to the questions we sent to an e-mail address on Chatroulette. Mr. Ternovskiy said he was a 17-year-old high school student in Moscow.
“I was not sure whether I should tell the world who I am mainly because of the fact that I am under age. Now I think that it would be better to reveal myself,” Mr. Ternovskiy wrote.

Sehr schönes Stop Motion-Video von Rob Carter, das die Veränderungen einer Stadt aus der Vogelperspektive in Stop Motion zeigt. Unbedingt die komplette, knapp 10 Minuten lange Version anschauen, die im Jahr 1755 mit ein paar Hütten im Wald anfängt und ganz langsam zur modernen Stadt Charlotte heranwächst, die man in den letzten drei Minuten oben sieht.
Metropolis is a quirky and very abridged narrative history of the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. It uses stop motion video animation to physically manipulate aerial still images of the city (both real and fictional), creating a landscape in constant motion. Starting around 1755 on a Native American trading path, the viewer is presented with the building of the first house in Charlotte.
From there we see the town develop through the historic dismissal of the English, to the prosperity made by the discovery of gold and the subsequent roots of the building of the multitude of churches that the city is famous for. Now the landscape turns white with cotton, and the modern city is ‘born’, with a more detailed re-creation of the economic boom and surprising architectural transformation that has occurred in the past 20 years.

Die Umsetzung hätte etwas besser sein können (statt „Go To Jail“ hätte man wirklich ein „Go To Hell“ nehmen können und für „Free Parking“… „Free Brains“ oder sowas) und ich wünschte mir noch passende Spielfiguren zum Monopoly-Mod, aber ich finde die Idee immer noch großartig: Ein Resident Evil-themed Monopoly.

Ich bin wirklich kein großer Freund „niedlicher“ Illustrationen, aber die von Andreas Krapf haben einen guten Strich und haben diese gehörige Portion Weirdness, damit ich das gut finde. Sein Zombie-Eichhörnchen und seine The Birds-Illu mit Gehirne fressenden Vögeln mag ich ja besonders (wer hätte das gedacht?)
