Cup Noodles haben sich zum 40jährigen Jubiläum eine Roboter-Edition ihrer Nudeln gebastelt, nur ohne Nudeln, sondern als Nudelkochdingsbumstimer. Richtig fantastisch hätte ich das ja gefunden, wenn die Dinger wirkliche Cup Noodles mit eingebautem Roboterkocher wären, oder so. Außerdem will ich das jetzt sofort für meine geliebten Mama Oriental Style Instant Noodles Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum Flavour.

Bonsai Kitten Plushy in a Jar
ThinkGeek verkauft Katzenplüschis im Einmachglas. Das nennt sich Bonsai Kitten und war eine der ersten Memes, so um 2000 rum. Das Ding hatte sich sehr schnell als Hoax von MIT-Studenten herausgestellt, aber das Gerücht hält sich bis heute. Ich selbst hatte mal eine Arbeitskollegen, der musste ich 2008 noch erklären, dass das ein Scherz war. Sie hat’s mir nicht geglaubt.

Vor knapp einem Jahr hatte ich hier pissgesteuerte Urinal-Games von Sega, damals schrieb ich noch „Only in Japan“. Jetzt hat sich ein englischer Geschäftsmann inspirieren lassen und ähnliche Dinger in einer Bar zu Testzwecken aufgestellt. Und weil das so erfolgreich läuft, werden wir den Quatsch jetzt noch öfter sehen.

Visitors at the The Exhibit Bar in Balham can play one of three games every time they use a urinal. The video game has been trialled in a bar in Cambridge since mid-July and it has proved to be both popular and profitable.
One of the game’s co-founders, Gordon MacSween, was not sure how the public would react to the game initially. But as soon he saw the game on trial at a bar in Cambridge he knew he was on to something good. The game was designed to create a valuable media opportunity from the 55 seconds the average male spends while he pees just staring at a blank wall.
Post-Apocalyptic Kids Timelapse-Illu
Ein Timelapse-Video einer ziemlich tollen Illu für’s Xabiroi Comic Book Magazine von jemandem namens Dei Gaztelumendi, das Teil nennt sich „Post-Apocalyptic Kids“: „Dei says that the magazine gave him complete control over the subject matter, so he decided to title it Post-Apocalyptic Kids. He also dedicated it to a friend who lost his leg in a motorbike accident last year, referring to him as the ‘toughest kiddo yet.’“

Alan Moore approves Anonymous’ Mask
Soweit ich weiß, hat sich Alan Moore noch nie zu Anonymous und deren Verwendung seines V als Symbol der Bewegung geäußert. Das hat er hetzt in einem Interview mit dem Guardian getan und findet’s super. Ich hätte jetzt auch nix anderes erwartet, der Mann ist schließlich nicht so ‘ne Pissnelke wie Frank Miller.
“I suppose when I was writing V for Vendetta I would in my secret heart of hearts have thought: wouldn’t it be great if these ideas actually made an impact? So when you start to see that idle fantasy intrude on the regular world… It’s peculiar. It feels like a character I created 30 years ago has somehow escaped the realm of fiction.” […]
“That smile is so haunting,” says Moore. “I tried to use the cryptic nature of it to dramatic effect. We could show a picture of the character just standing there, silently, with an expression that could have been pleasant, breezy or more sinister.” As well as the mask, Occupy protesters have taken up as a marrying slogan “We are the 99%”; a reference, originally, to American dissatisfaction with the richest 1% of the US population having such vast control over the country. “And when you’ve got a sea of V masks, I suppose it makes the protesters appear to be almost a single organism – this “99%” we hear so much about. That in itself is formidable. I can see why the protesters have taken to it.” […]
“It turns protests into performances. The mask is very operatic; it creates a sense of romance and drama. I mean, protesting, protest marches, they can be very demanding, very gruelling. They can be quite dismal. They’re things that have to be done, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re tremendously enjoyable – whereas actually, they should be.”
At one point in V for Vendetta, V lectures Evey about the importance of melodrama in a resistance effort. Says Moore: “I think it’s appropriate that this generation of protesters have made their rebellion into something the public at large can engage with more readily than with half-hearted chants, with that traditional, downtrodden sort of British protest. These people look like they’re having a good time. And that sends out a tremendous message.”

Googles LEM-Doodle
Google hat ein ziemlich abgefahrenes Doodle (<-- die komischen Animationen, die man da manchmal an Gedenktagen sieht) zum Andenken an Stanislav Lems erste Publikation. Ich habe so ziemlich alles gelesen von Lem und wenn man Technologie und Philosophie irgendwie zusammenbringen will, dann kommt man an dem Mann nicht vorbei.
Das Google-Ding ist kein simples animiertes GIF, sondern irgendwas anderes. Ich hab' mir obiges Sprite gesichert, die Animation muss man sich aber dort ansehen. Wie auch immer: Lem lives. (Danke Martin!)
