Femen vs Putin & Merkel in Hannover
Just right now sextremists FEMEN did an anti dictatorial attack of Putin. The Attack took place during exhibition in Ganover when Putin and Angela Merkel were watching an exposition. At the moment when Putin was watching what to steal from Volkswagen 4 topless activists could attack the bastard face to face. Activists screamed with voice of the nation ” fuck you, dictator!”. After incident Putin and Merkel left the place to follow the plan of visiting.
[update] Und gleich die Ansage aus’m Kreml: Kremlin urges Germany to punish topless protest against Putin: „Russia urged Germany to punish a group of women who staged a bare-breasted protest against President Vladimir Putin on Monday during a visit to a trade fair in Hanover with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.“
Femen-Activists protest for Amina
Earlier today, members of Ukrainian feminist group Femen staged protests across Europe as they called for a “topless jihad.” The demonstrations were in support of a young Tunisian activist named Amina Tyler. Last month, Tyler posted naked images of herself online, with the words “I own my body; it’s not the source of anyone’s honor” written on her bare chest. The head of Tunisia’s “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice,” reportedly called for Tyler to be stoned to death for her putatively obscene actions, lest they lead to an epidemic. Tyler has since gone quiet, leading some to fear for her safety. Below are images from Femen’s protests today in Sweden, Italy, Ukraine, Belgium, and France.
Femen Stages a ‘Topless Jihad’
[update] Ziemlich interessante Entwicklung: Muslim women send message to Femen – Counter-protest launched against ‘Topless Jihad Day’. (Danke Andrej!)
The thing is, many Muslim women are indeed oppressed, just like many non-muslim women around the world. Patriarchy is a global problem, and I will not deny the misogyny in my culture. However, please, do not insult me, my intelligence, my color, my heritage and my body, and please don’t do it because you think you’re ‘saving’ me. There are many Muslim feminists in all Muslim countries, a feminist’s job should be solidarity, amplifying voices of local feminists, not imagining they don’t exist. Femen is simply very euro-centric, racist and colonialist. I haven’t yet seen a black Femen protester, they are racist because they amplify European ideals of beauty; white, skinny, and young. I can’t believe this isn’t more obvious to people.
Personally, Femen, shut the fuck up, and don’t claim that you speak for me, or anybody else. Stop dictating women that they need to be nude to be free, that’s just as bad as men dictating them to be covered.
Free Pussy Riot Lingerie-Commercial
Was das Ding ja wegen all dieser Fragen durchaus interessant macht.
While it legitimately promotes the freepussyriot.org fundraising site to help the women, it is also promoting a product using a woman’s sexuality as the bait: „On the first anniversary of the Pussy Riot concert in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Berlin based Lingerie label blush supports the free pussy riot movement with a sexy protest march through icy Moscow (-15° C). Support Freepussyriot.org!“
This is no Femen action, in which women’s bodies become weapons of protest. It is a commercial for sexy underwear that pays for its appropriation of a radical feminist cause by directing people to that cause. Is this irony?

Femen-Activist deported in Tunesia

My Body is My Own and Not the Source of Anyone’s Honor“. Eine Petition auf Change.org habe ich grade unterzeichnet, you should, too.
Amina, a 19-year-old Tunisian aspirant to the radical, Ukraine-born feminist group Femen has been delivered by her parents to a psychiatric hospital in Tunis, according to reports received by Femen leader Inna Shevchenko in Paris. Amina (her last name is unknown) had posted topless photos of herself on the Femen web page she created for the group in Tunisia several weeks ago. One photo shows her topless, smoking a cigarette, with “My Body is My Own and Not the Source of Anyone’s Honor” scrawled in Arabic across her chest. Another shows her raising her middle fingers to the camera, with “Fuck Your Morals,” written on her torso. The site was subsequently hacked and temporarily plastered with citations from the Quran.
The head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Tunisia, Almi Adel, a Salafi Islamic preacher, has called for Amina to be “stoned to death” for posting the images. He warned that Amina’s action could cause “epidemics and disasters” and “could be contagious and give ideas to other women.” Media reports say Tunisian secular law would punish her with up to two years in prison.

Pussy Riot: The Jail Interview

„Katya’s answers got confiscated. Nadya’s and Masha’s follow.“
GQ: What is your average day like now? How do you get the news from the outside?
Masha: They have small, medium, and large cells here. We’re in three different small ones. Only the large cells have in-room showers; we get showers once a week. After 6 a.m., you’re not allowed to sleep under a blanket. Theoretically, until lights-out at 10 p.m., you’re not allowed to sleep at all, but in practice you can lie on top of the blanket and cover yourself with your coat. Nobody can explain why; the only answer you hear to any question is “That’s the rule” and “We keep to a regimen here.” Every day there’s an hour-long walk in a “yard,” which is a concrete box with two benches and a sliver of sky between a cement wall and a plastic roof. It’s all “Hug the wall” this and “Hands behind your back” that. They search our cells regularly and confiscate our drawings and notes. Why? “The rules.” Pretty much the only news we get is from federal TV channels. Only now do I realize the sheer amount of lies and censorship there. When you have the Internet, you don’t feel it as sharply. But once a week our lawyers bring us different news, words of support, and that helps a lot.

The only professionals anywhere in sight are Pussy Riot themselves. From their name, perfectly pitched to both shock and attract the western media, to their instantly recognisable look; from their message (concise bursts of feminist agitprop with just enough of a tune to pass as a song), to their method of distributing this message via social networks; from their initial punk posturing in interviews, to their pointedly academic statements to the court, which no less than David Remnick called “a kind of instant classic in the anthology of dissidence”; these women, and they alone in this mess, know exactly what they are doing.
Minutes after the verdict, the band released a new single, Putin Lights Up the Fires, exclusively through the Guardian. It is notably more melodic than their previous work.
In fact, such PR precision may even open up a slightly icky discussion of whether, in the meta-artwork that is Pussy Riot’s story, imprisonment is an integral part. (The collective were once temporarily excommunicated from their parent art group, Voina, for allegedly planning the arrest of a group’s member as a way of amplifying the message).
But now is not the time for that discussion. Nuance can come later. When you trim away everything else, three young women will spend two years in jail for dancing in a church.
And the depths of vengeful backwardness that their case has teased out of the Russian soil have helped make a dubious art project into a great one: one capable of changing the society that tried to stifle it.

Femen just made Football interesting, snatching the Euro Soccer Cup with Tits
A Ukrainian women’s rights activist stripped to the waist and seized the Euro-2012 soccer trophy while it was on public display in Kiev on Saturday in a protest against the forthcoming month-long championship. The young woman, 23-year-old Yulia Kovpachik, is a member of the Kiev-based Femen women’s rights group which believes the Euro-2012 soccer tournament being played in Ukraine next month will encourage sex tourism.
The creators of the movement are Oksana, Anna Hutsol and Sasha Shevchenko. At first, they lived in Khmelnytskyi, a city with 300,000 inhabitants and two nuclear reactors.
There were hardly any jobs to be had, and the men drank. The girls, for their part, spent long evenings discussing philosophy, Marxism and the situation of women in post-Soviet society. They decided that instead of getting married, they would bring about change.
There were only three of them at first, but now the movement, whose ranks include students, journalists and economists, has spread throughout Ukraine and includes more than 300 women. Calling themselves “Femen,” they have started a movement that has also caught hold among women in Tunisia and the United States. It’s a movement that even encourages experienced women’s rights activists to undress.

Femen crash Davos World Economic Forum

Three topless Ukrainian protesters were detained Saturday while trying to break into an invitation-only gathering of international CEOs and political leaders to call attention to the needs of the world’s poor. After a complicated journey to reach the heavily guarded Swiss resort town of Davos, the Ukrainians arrived at the entrance to the complex where the World Economic Forum takes place every year.
With temperatures around freezing in the snow-filled town, they took off their tops and tried to climb a fence before being detained. “Crisis! Made in Davos,” read one message painted across a protester’s torso, while others held banners that said “Poor, because of you” and “Gangsters party in Davos.”
Davos police spokesman Thomas Hobi said the three women were taken to the police station and told that they weren’t allowed to demonstrate. He said they would be released later Saturday.

Femen: Kievs Topless Protestors

Sehr interessanter Artikel aus spOnline International über Femen, die nackten Bürgerrechtsaktivisten aus der Ukraine: „Facebook used to block their pages and Ukraine’s secret service has threatened them with violence: With a mix of political protest and eye-catching eroticism, the women’s rights group Femen has inspired fear in Ukrainian authorities with its fight against prostitution and sex tourism.“
Inna Shevchenko, 20, a student from Kiev, is a “Topless Fighter,” as activists with the women’s rights group Femen call themselves. For two years, the organization has been fighting against sex tourism and prostitution in Ukraine, a country that even Google automatically associates with “dating agencies” and “women.” The advertisements to the right of a Google search for “Ukraine” are for “Single Ukrainian Ladies,” “Women From Ukraine,” or “Partner Search Ukraine.” Although the group has only a few dozen activists like Inna and around 300 supporters, the topless protests have established a global reputation for Femen. […]
Old school feminists find the topless troops strange. “They dress like prostitutes,” criticizes gender researcher Maria Dmitrieva wrote of Femen in a Russian magazine. “The display of bare breasts, with or without cause, is certainly not conducive to social discourse.”
“Yes,” sighs Anna Hutsol im Café Cupidon. “We’re different from classic feminists. In order to gain a voice, they had to become like men. But we want a real women’s revolution. Our naked protests are part of the fight for women’s liberation. We have the right to use our bodies as weapons. It was men who made breasts into a secret.”
