Comedy Movie Preview: A Prairie Home Companion
The Funny Site of the Day -- Studio synopsis:
Director Robert Altman and writer Garrison Keillor join forces with an all-star cast to create a comic backstage fable, A Prairie Home Companion, about a fictitious radio variety show that has managed to survive in the age of television. Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin star as the Johnson Sisters, Yolanda and Rhonda, a country duet act that has survived the county-fair circuit, and Lindsay Lohan plays Meryl's daughter, Lola, who gets her big chance to sing on the show and then forgets the words.
Kevin Kline is Guy Noir, a private eye down on his luck who works as a backstage doorkeeper, and Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly are Dusty and Lefty, the Old Trailhands, a singing cowboy act. Add Virginia Madsen as an angel and Tommy Lee Jones as the Axeman and Maya Rudolph as a pregnant stagehand and Keillor in the role of a hangdog emcee, and you have a playful story set on a rainy Saturday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, where fans file into the Fitzgerald Theater to see A Prairie Home Companion, a staple of radio station WLT, not knowing that WLT has been sold to a Texas conglomerate and that tonight's show will be the last.
At Picturehouse's official A Prairie Home Companion site, watch the movie trailer and browse through a photo gallery. Downloads include desktop wallpapers, posters, ecards and soundtrack song samples. The film opens June 9.

Beat the Sheep Pinata
The Funny Site of the Day -- The Sullivan Higdon & Sink marketing firm has an interesting relaxation method for their employees, and the public is invited to partake, too, especially in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
"Nothing is more satisfying after a hard day en la publicidad than beating the living crap out of a pinata. Especially one in the shape of a bland, easy-to-ignore sheep. So, show your ovejas-hating spirit and celebrate Sullivan Higdon & Sinko de Mayo with our favorite game."
You'll be blindfolded as the heavily-candied sheep pinata is lowered into the room. Attack and destroy, then see how much bounty you've baa-shed.

Puppy Mover Monorail
The Funny Site of the Day -- The Monorail Society explains:
"It all started as a joke idea from the whacky, yet creative mind of TMS member James Horecka, while enjoying lunch on a Friday afternoon. James thought it would be funny to make a PRT, or Puppy Rapid Transit vehicle, and send a picture to TMS headquarters for a laugh. Quickly the concept grew beyond a single car PRT vehicle into a monorail train full of puppies! By 3 PM that afternoon, parts were being purchased for the project."
See the plans! See the finished project! See the puppies! Where's the luggage?!

NBC Web Favorites
The Funny Site of the Day -- NBC is tired of their television content appearing on unauthorized Internet sites, so they've set up this Web Favorites page to house various clips themselves. That could be all well and good, except NBC's output is slim and posted infrequently. Nevertheless, here's an authorized place to look for a few Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show, Conan, and sitcom comedy bits.
At this writing, you can catch the newly popular "Laser Cats," an SNL Digital Short with Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Lorne Michaels, and Lindsay Lohan as the Princess. Who among us doesn't like lasers and cats?

Looney Tunes Hidden Gags
The Funny Site of the Day -- Long before MAD and The Simpsons placed humor in the margins or away from the central focus, the animators at the legendary Warner Bros. Termite Terrace studio heightened their creative anarchy by sneaking inside jokes into the cartoons. Curator Greg Brian has documented 50 years of gags hiding in plain sight throughout numerous Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies films. See screenshots with explanations of the bits you tawt you taw.

Comedy Movie Preview: Disney / Pixar's Cars
The Funny Site of the Day -- Walt Disney Pictures plays the race car with their big summer release at the starting line June 9. We've flagged down the studio synopsis:
After taking moviegoers magically into the realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful storytellers and technical wizards at Pixar Animation Studios (The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc.), and Academy Award®-winning director John Lasseter (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life), hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars.
Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town’s offbeat characters – including Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by Paul Newman), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy) – who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.
The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by racing legend Richard Petty and Cheech Marin. Fueled with plenty of humor, action, heartfelt drama, and amazing new technical feats, Cars is a high octane delight for moviegoers of all ages.
The official Cars showroom displays coming attractions trailers, desktop wallpapers, and profiles of the main caracters. The site plans tune-ups and more accessories are promised.
