Schöner Trailer zu „Punk in Africa“, der die Wurzeln der Mucke in der Rebellion der weißen Kids gegen die Rassenpolitik ihrer Eltern ausmacht, die sich mit den Schwarzen zusammentaten und drei Akkorde runterspielten. Der Film befindet sich seit letztem Jahr im Festivalzirkus, Screenings findet man auf der Facebook-Seite. Ob und wann der bei uns zu sehen sein wird, kann ich nicht sagen. Leider.
Three chords, three countries, one revolution…PUNK IN AFRICA is the story of the multi-racial punk movement within the recent political and social upheavals experienced in three Southern African countries: South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. In these societies, the punk subculture represented a genuinely radical political impulse, playing out against a backdrop of intense political struggle, economic hardship and even civil war.
PUNK IN AFRICA traces this until-now untold story from its roots in the underground rock music of early 1970s Johannesburg, the first multi-racial punk bands formed in the wake of the Soweto Uprising and the militant anti-apartheid hardcore and post-punk bands of the 1980s to the rise of celebratory African-inspired ska bands which sprang up from Cape Town to Maputo in the democratic era of the 1990s. Today, an emerging generation of bands continue to draw on this legacy to confront the political challenges of contemporary Zimbabwe and the uncertain identity issues of the Afrikaans minority in South Africa.

Die Spoke Art-Gallery in San Francisco zeigt von heute bis Sonntag eine Ausstellung mit Artworks zu den Filmen Scorseses, haufenweise Artworks daraus gibt’s in ihrem Tumblr und auf Facebook, ich hab’ hier mal die Taxi Driver-Arbeiten rausgesucht.
Widely regarded as one of America’s most talented filmmakers, Scorsese boasts a 40+ year career in cinema and his love affair with the city of New York has manifested itself in such a way that the director is considered an unofficial biographer of the Big Apple. With this in mind, Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco has opted to bring our “Scorsese” tribute art show to NYC for a weekend-only showing of new and original paintings, sculptures and prints.
Blade Runner remastered Soundtrack on Red Vinyl

Audio Fidelity veröffentlichen dieser Tage einen remasterten Soundtrack von Blade Runner auf rotem Vinyl. Das Teil ist der Original-Soundtrack und nicht das nachgespielte Dings von 1982.
The movie remains a classic film with a long list of popular movie stars including Harrison Ford, Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos most of whom appear on this record in movie dialog samples mixed into the 12 tracks of nearly one hour of music. Vangelis makes each track flow into one another. The soundtrack features vocal contributions from Demis Roussos and the sax solo by Dick Morrissey on “Love Theme.” The gatefold jacket includes many colorful stills from the film. Blade Runner is a timeless classic film and now on 180g translucent red vinyl.

Funny Or Die haben ihr Steve Jobs-„Biopic“ online gestellt. Das Teil ist so halb witzig, wobei Jorge Garcia als Woz natürlich grandios gecastet ist. Wie so ziemlich alles von Funny Or Die eher unlustig und höchstens nett, es sei der Vollständigkeit halber aber erwähnt. (Wobei sie das Teil in drei Tagen geschrieben und in fünf gedreht haben – für so’n spontanes Projekt ist das dann doch okay.)
One Disney-Star Wars-Movie per Year
Disney hat während einer Präsentation auf der CinemaCon einen Star Wars-Film pro Jahr ab 2015 angekündigt. Anscheinend sollen die SpinOff-Filme im Jahr nach den Episoden-Filmen anlaufen, also Episode VII, Spinoff, Episode VIII, Spinoff etc etc ad infinitum. Für mich klingt das so, wie die Etablierung eines neuen Expanded Universe im Kino. Ich… muss da erstmal drüber nachdenken, ein simples WTF reicht hier für’s erste.
It sounds like not only is Disney making the projects summer 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII a reality, but their presentation at CinemaCon revealed that they plan on releasing a Star Wars film every summer following that. The releases will alternate between the milestone episodes of the new trilogy and the standalone films that have been confirmed to be in the works. There were rumblings that the standalone films would be released between Episodes VII, VIII and IX, but this is the first we’ve heard from Disney about their plans to release a new Star Wars film every year following Episode VII in 2015.

Und auch nicht ganz so unwichtig: AMC hat grade Details und ein Datum zu den letzten acht Breaking Bad-Folgen bekannt gegeben, die finale Staffel läuft ab dem 11. August, inklusive einer an „Talking Dead“ angelehnten Talkshow zur Serie. Außerdem denken sie mittlerweile (sehr) laut über ein Breaking Bad-Spinoff mit Anwalt Saul Goodman nach.
AMC has announced that the final eight episodes of its highly lauded, cultishly followed moral disaster series Breaking Bad will begin airing on August 11. Meaning you have just under four months to lock in your theories about what will happen to meth-makin’ Walter White and all those caught in his web of horror.
The network also announced that each episode will indeed be followed by Talking Bad, a wrap-up show done in the style of Talking Dead, the inexplicably popular Walking Dead post-mortem hosted by Chris Hardwick.

Russ Meyer x Star Wars-Actionfigures
Neue Custom Actionfigures von Jamie „Sillof“ Follis, ein Toy-Mashup aus Russ Meyer und Star Wars. Whoa! Die Teile wurden von Patton Oswalt in Auftrag gegeben und er hat sie Roger Ebert gewidmet, der ein paar mal mit Russ Meyer zusammengearbeitet hatte.
It’s the Star Wars universe as interpreted by Russ Meyer. Busty, pneumatic amazons in all of the male roles, with one Li’l Abner-stlye lunkhead in the Princess Leia role. Cars and liquor and 60’s-style garage rock. And, except for a couple of names and character ideas (I came up with “Darla Vade” and insisted she be modeled after the immortal Tura Satana) Sillof came up with the whole story, and all of the other characters. A film buff as well as a craftsman, this man.
What’s bittersweet about the whole thing is, Roger Ebert never got to see these. I turned him on to Sillof’s site last year. He especially loved the Noir Wars figures.
And I sent him the title logo of this set as a tease just a few months ago. As someone who’d worked with Russ Meyer (Ebert was going to write the collaboration between Meyer and the fucking Sex Pistols, fer chrissakes) he was more than intrigued. But I never rush an artist, whether they’re going a poster or album cover or especially something like this.
So this set’s for you, Roger.
