Movies as Code
Schöne Blogidee von Ben Howdle: Movies as Code (via Daniel). Hier Monty Pythons Flying Circus:
Random now = new Random( completelyDifferent );
The Shining:
<?php echo strrev('murder'); ?>
Und die unendliche Geschichte:
<?php
function story(){
for($i=0;$i>0;$i++){
story();
}else{
end;
}
}
story();

The Walking Dead S02

Garbage Pail Kids, the Movie by PES

Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company will finance and produce the development of a feature film based on Garbage Pail Kids, the trading card line published by Topps. Eisner bought the card company in 2007 and this is his first feature spinoff project. Toby Ascher is producing. PES (that is what he goes by) will direct the film, which will be scripted by Michael Vukadinovich, who most recently set his Black List script The Three Misfortunes Of Geppetto at Fox and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps. PES, an award winning creator of shorts, developed the story with Vukadinovich. His latest film is Fresh Guacamole, and his other shorts include Roof Sex and Western Spaghetti. All of them have been wildly popular viral videos.

Monty Pythons Holy iPad-App

Von The Verge:
Overall, there’s 70 minutes of never-before-seen video, including recent visits by the cast to various filming locations around Scotland like the “Bridge of Death” and “Castle Aaargh.” There’s also a day-by-day diary from Michael Palin (who played Sir Galahad) and 360-degree views of key props, like Arthur’s helmet and the titular holy grail. All of this content is presented beautifully, with fonts, animations, and graphics all inspired by and consistent with the film’s design.
“The holy chapters” providers an alternate way to view much of this content; instead of organizing it by shooting date, it follows along with the film scene-by-scene. Each chapter has links to the outtakes, still photos, diary, and script, and provides a quick link to jump back into the “book of days” section to get the grim details behind the shoot. Additionally, if you purchased the recently-released Blu-ray reissue, you can sync this app to your internet-connected Blu-ray player and use it as a “second screen” to control the movie and pull up material relevant to the scene you’re watching.

Little Rebels: Star Wars, Norman Rockwell-Style

Vintage Marx Brothers Flip-O-Visions

Flip•O•Vision produced back in 1949 by the TOPPS company, was a set of 60 flip books that each made a mini movie. Inside each elongated 5¢ pack contained a booklet with 30 perforated pages folded like an accordion and a stick of bubblegum. The pages had to be separated and then bound together with a rubber band to be used as a “flip movie”. The subjects featured in the “mini productions” consisted of various performers, famous and obscure comedians, singers, movie actors, radio actors, etc, all performing their various mute schtick for TOPPS cameras.
“Flip•O•Vision” was most likely the brainchild of the legendary Woody Gelman, head of product development at TOPPS, in an attempt to cash in on the newfangled invention called television (a TV set is even featured on the wrapper). Unfortunately for TOPPS, television sort of caught on, Flip•O•Vision, which might have seemed like a good idea at the time, did not. They’ve since become highly sought out by collectors of vintage bubblegum cards and film memorabilia.
And then that happened…

Solipsist: Experimental Short
Youtube Direktwhat?, via Flooby Nooby
SOLIPSIST is a three part psychedelic fantasy short film about otherworldly beings whose minds and bodies converge into one entity. Filled with elaborate costumes, stunning visual effects, and underwater puppets, the film is a non-narrative purely visual/audio experience designed to transport viewers through a hypnotic, dream-like experience. It consists of three parts, each featuring visually fantastic characters and creatures that converge with each other in surreal ways. The film concludes by featuring all three segments combine into a colorful, psychedelic finale.
“Solipsist” is meant to be a purely visual film built around the idea of convergence and unison between living things. The title comes from the philosophical theory of solipsism in which the self is the only thing that one can know or prove to exist. The isolation of this theory inspired me to imagine a counter-hypothesis – a world in which living beings are not constrained by a singular experience. Rather, the characters in this film are constantly merging into one another, forming a collective consciousness through unison of their minds and bodies.
Ralph McQuarrie R.I.P.

The Creator of Darth is dead.
Man, Death is a Bitch. I’d like some guys to live forever. Ralph is one of them.
Von Tor.com:
We are sad to report that concept art legend Ralph McQuarrie passed away today. McQuarrie was the designer of the original Star Wars movies, Battlestar Gallactica, ET, Star Trek and many other science fiction classics.
Arguably his most recognizable creation was the design for Darth Vader, (back when the movie was still called Adventures of Luke Starkiller.)
It is impossible to overstate the effect he has had on a generation of movie goers and how we see the future. Our thoughts are with the McQuarrie family and those closest to him.

[update] Von George Lucas:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a visionary artist and such a humble man. Ralph McQuarrie was the first person I hired to help me envision Star Wars. His genial contribution, in the form of unequaled production paintings, propelled and inspired all of the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy. When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph’s fabulous illustrations and say, ‘Do it like this.’
“Beyond the movies, his artwork has inspired at least two generations of younger artists—all of whom learned through Ralph that movies are designed. Like me, they were thrilled by his keen eye and creative imagination, which always brought concepts to their most ideal plateau. In many ways, he was a generous father to a conceptual art revolution that was born of his artwork, and which seized the imaginations of thousands and propelled them into the film industry. In that way, we will all be benefiting from his oeuvre for generations to come. Beyond that, I will always remember him as a kind and patient, and wonderfully talented, friend and collaborator.”
