Back to the Future-Day Single Service Sites: Are we in the Future yet?
Nachdem sich das halbe Internet gestern mal wieder mit einem geshoppten Still aus Back to the Future verarschen lies, hatte Kyle McDonald vom F.A.T.-Lab die Schnauze voll und stellte schnell eine Single Service Site („Single-serving sites are web sites comprised of a single page with a dedicated domain name and do only one thing“, KYM) dazu auf die Beine: Are we in the Future yet? YES! Yes we actually are! Etwas unlustiger, dafür korrekter: Is today the Day Marty McFly arrives when he travels to the future? Der echte Tag ist übrigens der 21. Oktober 2015 und ja, der ist schon seit einer Weile in meinem Kalender rot angestrichen. Damit dürfte sich das Thema erledigt haben, so ungefähr für ein Jahr. N00bs.

Wired Italien baut grade einen DeLorian in ein Elektroauto um und fährt damit eine Woche lang durchs Land. Auf der Seite dazu verstehe ich kein Wort und Autos mag ich auch nicht besonders, aber ich mag Green Tech und ich mag DeLoreans. Gizmodo hat mehr:

Our friends at Wired Italy are big fans of the movie. They’re also fascinated by electric cars, so the combination just seemed right. They’ve partnered with the open source car conversion experts at eCars Now! Italy to make it happen. “This is all real future, not back to the future,” said Wired Italy Features Editor Massimiliano Ferramondo.

Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown-Doku „Back to the Future“
Einen der wichtigsten Jahrestage dieses Jahr habe ich ja verpasst. Am 5. November 1955 hatte Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown die Idee zur Zeitmaschine, eine Erfindung, die Jahre später Thema der preisgekrönten Dokumentation „Back to the Future“ war. Wired hat zum Jahrestag ein äußerst charmantes, kurzes Posting.
Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown is known for being a member (unverified) of the Manhattan Project, a physics professor at Hill Valley University, and a talented entrepreneur and handyman. But it’s his contribution to the field of temporal physics for which he is best remembered.
According to archival footage, Brown was standing on his toilet seat on the evening of Nov. 5, 1955, attempting to hang a clock in his bathroom, when he slipped and slammed his head on the side of the sink. Upon regaining consciousness Brown reported having “a revelation, a picture, a picture in my head.” A picture which he crudely scrawled down on a piece of paper and subsequently spent 30 years of his life and family fortune to build.
That picture, of course, was the flux capacitor. And as every high school physics student knows, it’s the device that makes time travel possible.
