Black Sabbath grows better Plants

Ist wahrscheinlich Schleichwerbung für’s neue Sabbath-Album, aber was soll’s: Die BBC meint, Black Sabbath-beschallte Pflanzen wachsen besser und treiben schönere Blüten. Klingt logisch.

“We set up four glasshouses with different sorts of music in to see what happened to the plants,” Beardshaw said. “We had one that was silent – that was a control house – and we had one that was played classical music, we had one that was played Cliff Richard and we had one that was played Black Sabbath.

“And the ones with Black Sabbath – great big, thumping noise, rowdy music – they were the shortest, but they had the best flowers and the best resistance to pest and disease. The alstroemerias in the Cliff Richard house all died.

Black Sabbath – God Is Dead?

(via Marc)

New Black Sabbath-Album in June

Ich hatte Ende 2011 schon die Re-Union von Black Sabbath gebloggt, jetzt hat die Band auf ihrer Website den Titel des neuen Albums und ein Release-Date bekanntgegeben. Wird ein heisser Sommer.

Today, the 13th of January 2013, rock legends BLACK SABBATH have announced the title of their new album, 13, which will be released this June (exact date TBA). The original BLACK SABBATH–OZZY OSBOURNE (vocals), TONY IOMMI (guitar) and GEEZER BUTLER (bass)–have recorded the album primarily in Los Angeles and were joined at the sessions by drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine).

Produced by Rick Rubin (seven-time Grammy winner, two of those as Producer of the Year), the album will be released on Vertigo (worldwide) and Vertigo/Republic in the U.S. 13 marks the Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ return to Vertigo, the band’s original label; it’s the group’s first studio album together since 1978’s Never Say Die! They have sold over 70 million albums together.

Black Sabbath Reunion

Vom Rolling Stone:

The surprise news was that the reunion will include a new album, produced by Rick Rubin, due next fall.

Host Henry Rollins […] brought Rubin and the four Sabbath bandmates to the Whisky stage, where they’d played 41 years earlier to the day. Rollins hosted a Q&A before the band answered questions from the assembled press corps.

“Why now?” Rollins began. Osbourne summed it up: “It’s just time,” he said. Those sentiments were echoed by Iommi, who said, “It’s now or never. We get along great. Everything’s really good.” The band also credited Rubin’s persistence for helping get them back in the studio. “He phoned us every five minutes,” Iommi joked.

“I’ve known Rick for many years,” Osbourne added. “He wanted to do it a long time ago.”

Black Sabbath nehmen ein Album in Originalbesetzung mit Tommy Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler und Bill Ward auf. Ihr erstes in dieser Besetzung seit 1978. Fuck YEAH! Aus der Originalmeldung der Birmingham Mail: Black Sabbath to reform with original line-up and new studio album.

THE most closely guarded secret in rock music can be revealed – the original Black Sabbath line-up is getting back together. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward have begun rehearsing for a tour and new studio album. In June this year vocalist Ozzy and guitarist Iommi wrote new material for a record that will be released next year. ‘‘We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’ve been writing is really good,’’ said 63-year-old Iommi. ‘‘It’s more back to the old original stuff.’’

[update] Ein Kommentar bei der Birmingham Mail: „According to an update from Classic Rock Magazine, “Iommi’s management have now strongly denied the authenticity of this story, claiming that the guitarist hasn’t spoken to the paper for two months!” So what’s the deal, then? Is this a true story or what? Please give us an update as to the authenticity of this news story.“
