The Bob Dylan Copyright Extension Collection

In 2011 the European Union revised its copyright laws to extend copyright to 70 years. The change is not yet in effect but will be by 2014. And there’s a catch, a “use it or lose it” provision: recordings cannot benefit from the 20-year extension unless they were published before the 50-year term expired. The recordings on “The 50th Anniversary Collection” were about to fall over that legal precipice. […]

There was another concern. In Europe smaller labels have been releasing recordings that have gone out of copyright as public domain compilations — so-called gray market discs — including some by Mr. Dylan. Typically, these companies have not had access to master tapes but have released material that has already appeared on bootlegs, often in superb but not master quality. Sony hopes to fight those labels with this release and any sequels.

Old Hardware-Junk plays Bob Dylan

 Vimeo Direktbob, via Designboom

The Times they are a-changing“ spielen.

we decided to create a full-scale orchestra, made entirely out of discarded relics from the old world of printing. Printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, modems, hard drives — a scrapheap symphony, reprogrammed and rewired to perform Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’”. Because the old world of printing has come to an end. And this is their swansong.

To [isthisgood?] fell the arduous task of making the discarded printer relics sing, through a rigorous process of soldering, reprogramming, hacking, and re-wiring. They even custom designed their own circuit board, so as to control all of the printers from one main computer.

The Neuroscience of Bob Dylan

Like a Rolling Stone” erzählt. Like a rolling stone.

Although Dylan’s creativity remained a constant – he wrote because he didn’t know what else to do – there were increasing signs that he was losing interest in creating music. The only talent he cared about was being ruined by fame. The breaking point probably came after a brief vacation in Portugal, where Dylan got a vicious case of food poisoning. The illness forced him to stay in bed for a week, giving the singer a rare chance to reflect. “I realised I was very drained,” Dylan would later confess. “I was playing a lot of songs I didn’t want to play. It’s very tiring having other people tell you how much they dig you if you yourself don’t dig you.”

Bob Dylan-themed Birthday Party for 2yr old Kid

The moment Holden picked up his ukulele and stuck a harmonica in his mouth, we knew we had a tiny Bob Dylan on our hands. Naturally, the next logical step was to convert our building lounge into a rock club for his 2nd birthday party!

Holden’s favorite music teacher, John Carlin of The Kids Music Underground, was coming to perform so we created a kid-friendly stage area complete with theater curtain, custom music-themed posters (including our own version of Milton Glaser’s famous Dylan illustration), prop guitars and a Fender amp. Club-goers were given “admit one, age two” wristbands upon entering the party, and VIP family wore laminated all-access passes. The Dylan poster art appeared again on yet another cake crafted by the talented crew at Betty Bakery, and Holden’s lil rockstar buddies left the show with branded harmonicas as favors.

Junge Polizistin hält Bob Dylan für einen Penner, like a rolling stone, complete unknown

(Youtube Direktrollingstone)

“We got a call for a suspicious person,” Buble said. “It was pouring rain outside, and I was right around the corner so I responded. By that time he was walking down the street. I asked him what he was doing in the neighborhood and he said he was looking at a house for sale.”

“I asked him what his name was and he said, ‘Bob Dylan,’ Buble said. “Now, I’ve seen pictures of Bob Dylan from a long time ago and he didn’t look like Bob Dylan to me at all. He was wearing black sweatpants tucked into black rain boots, and two raincoats with the hood pulled down over his head.

“So I said, ‘OK Bob, what are you doing in Long Branch?’ He said he was touring the country with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp. So now I’m really a little fishy about his story. I did not know what to believe or where he was coming from, or even who he was. We see a lot of people on our beat, and I wasn’t sure if he came from one of our hospitals or something,” Buble said.

Bob Dylan Mashup-Album

dylanmashed

I Can’t Stand Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan vs. Police)
Freight Train Control (Bob Dylan vs. Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

I Stole This Idea From Bob Dylan

So lass’ ich mir Hip Hop gefallen. Ausnahmsweise mal.

dylan.jpg

Bob Dylan, the so-called voice of a generation, is actually repsonsible for every hit song of the past 35 years.

Bob Dylan hatte ja jede Menge Hits. Dass er aber auch Fight for your Right to Party, My Humps und I like big butts geschrieben hat, das wusste ich bisher nicht.

How does it feel…

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
People’d call, say, “Beware doll, you’re bound to fall”
You thought they were all kiddin’ you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin’ out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
