The Return of Kino.to?
Die Kölner Firma Kinoo GmbH (iG) hat den ehemaligen Betreibern von Kino.to (gegen die vor ein paar Tagen erst die erste Anklage erhoben wurde) die Domain inklusive der Datenbanken abgekauft, dafür haben sie 1,5 Mio. Euro hingelegt. Das klingt für mich sehr nach Napster Reloaded und angesichts der Tatsache, dass kinoo.to praktisch die gleichen Streams bietet und von einer deutschstämmigen Firma (in Gründung) betrieben wird, ist das Ding schneller offline, als ich P2P sagen kann. Außerdem vermute ich noch ein paar andere Hintergründe, da halte ich mich aber vornehm zurück, kann sich eh jeder denken, was da gelaufen ist.
The new owners of the site have informed TorrentFreak that within a week the Kino.to domain will be operating in tandem with Kinoo.to (note the double ‘o’), the URL of the new site that is already in operation. Because the police took control of Kino.to’s DNS during the raids, the original domain still currently points to a notice saying the site has been seized, but it won’t stay that way for long. A domain transfer to the new owner is currently underway and should be complete in a matter of days. […]
However, according to Alexander Baumgärtner from Kinoo GmbH iG, the German-based company that acquired Kino.to, the site’s rebirth will also signal a new approach to its operations. “Our goal is to provide a serious and legitimate streaming project,” Baumgärtner told TorrentFreak, adding that a limited company in the Cologne area has been established and new offices acquired. Offshore companies, it seems, are off the agenda.
“We understand that Kino.to has a very questionable reputation due to the events of the last years, particularly in June 2011, but we believe that the basic framework of Kino.to is by far the best platform in the market currently and we are convinced that € 1.5 million is a perfectly justifiable price, since many users have the domain ‘Kino.to’ in their bookmarks.”

Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO

Steve Jobs hat grade seinen Job als Geschäftsführer von Apple aus gesundheitlichen Gründen hingelegt, bleibt aber als Vorsitzender des Vorstandes und als Mitarbeiter zunächst im Unternehmen. 1976 gründete Jobs mit Ronald Wayne und Steve Wozniak Apple, baute den ersten Homecomputer der Welt und wurde 1985 gegangen. Daraufhin gründete er Next und Pixar, während Apple sich zum Nischenprodukthersteller für grafische Betriebe zurückentwickelt. 1995 kaufte Apple Next, Steve Jobs kam wieder, übernahm ab 1997 den Laden und machte in den folgenden 15 Jahren Apple zum Vorreiter für digitales Entertainment und Smartphones. Diese Ära geht heute ein bisschen zu Ende.

Das Record Collectors Magazine hat die 50 wertvollsten Platten aller Zeiten zusammengestellt, die absolute Hitsingle ist „God save the Queen“ von den Pistols mit (nur) 8000 Pfund (circa 9000 Euro).
The original single for God Save the Queen, the irreverent and angrily sung tribute to the monarchy during Silver Jubilee Year, was published by A&M Records, but soon after the company dropped the band and destroyed most of the copies, making any existing versions worth £8,000 today. The band was soon picked up by a young Richard Branson and his Virgin label, which re-released the single.
The second-most valuable record is a first pressing of The Beatles’ first album, Please Please Me, worth £3,500 if found in mint condition. Ian McCann, editor of Record Collector magazine, which drew up the list, said: “There is something of an investment market in mint-condition copies of iconic albums.

Nerdcore ist nun nicht wirklich bekannt für Business-Meldungen und das hier wird sehr wahrscheinlich eine der wenigen bleiben, aber fucking Disney kauft fucking Marvel. Zwar habe ich in den vergangenen Monaten (nicht zuletzt dank Nilzenburger) gelernt, dass DC Comics das unter Umständen bessere Comic Label sind (nicht zuletzt danke Vertigo, die ein paar von mir sehr gern gelesene Comics rausbringen), aber ich kann mir beim besten Willen keine Marvel Zombies unter der Riege von Disney vorstellen, auch wenn diese Idee zuletzt sehr gelitten hat und sehr verwässert wurde.
Desto länger ich aber darüber nachdenke, desto mehr Sinn ergibt ein Marvel unter Disney, denn allzuviel schenken die sich an Familienkompatibilitätsunsinn (<-- super Wort, wa?) nicht. Disney/Marvel-Mashups gerne in die Kommentare. Ich fang mal an: The Beauty and The Beast… wait…

Wie grade bekannt wurde, ist Pirate Bay für rund 5,6 Millionen Euro an den Werbe- und Softwaredienstleister Global Gaming Factory X verkauft worden. Die wollen PB auf eine legale Basis stellen („”We would like to introduce models which entail that content providers and copyright owners get paid for content that is downloaded via the site” said Hans Pandeya, CEO GGF.“)
Bleibt abzuwarten, ob die Musik-Industrie sich genauso bockig anstellt wie bei Napster seinerzeit oder ob sie aus ihren Fehlern gelernt haben. Und es bleibt ebenso abzuwarten, ob das hier nicht ganz einfach das Ende von The Pirate Bay ist. Werden wir alles sehen.
Gleichzeitig übernimmt GGF das IT-Haus Peerialism für zirka 100 Millionen schwedische Kronen. Mit Hilfe von dessen eigenentwickelter Filesharing-Technologie und Pirate Bays populärer Plattform will sich GGF in eine international strategisch wichtige Position im Markt für die digitale Distribution von Inhalte bringen.

If the new owners will screw around with the site, nobody will keep using it. That’s the biggest insurance one can have that the site will be run in the way that we all want to. And – you can now not only share files but shares with people. Everybody can indeed be the owner of The Pirate Bay now. That’s awesome and will take the heat of us.
The old crew is still around in different ways. We will also not stop being active in the politics of the internets – quite the opposite. Now we’re fueling up for going into the next gear. TPB will have economical muscles to let people evolve it. It will team up with great technicians to evolve the protocols.
