Wedding Cake of 35 Skulls
Toller Hochzeitskuchen von Annabel de Vetten mit 35 Skulls und einer vertrockneten Blume obendrauf.
It features solid chocolate skulls of 16 carrion crows, 12 domestic kittens, 3 Vervet monkeys, and 4 barn owls, all of which the artist sculpted by hand. Made from White Chocolate Mudcake, the cake took her over 100 hours to complete in total. There are two options of toppers: a chocolate conjoined kitten skull, or dried flowers from an actual wedding bouquet (ones shown here from her own).
Blue Velvet Cupcakes
Alyssa von Sup Cakes hat diese Ohren-Auf-Der-Grünen-Wiese-Cupcakes aus David Lynchs Blue Velvet gemacht, Miss Cakehead verkauft auch ein bisschen Lynch-Gebäck und Dangerous Minds haben noch ein paar Ohren-Cupcakes gefunden, die aber nicht ganz so toll aussehen und von denen ich nicht rausfinden konnte, wer sie gemacht hat.

Machi no Kumasan, a small bakery in Takasaki City, Gunma prefecture is churning out this specialty ramen cake for 1,000 yen (US $11). Here’s a list of the ingredients they used:
Noodles – Japanese chestnut and kabocha pumpkin cream
Broth – Early Grey jelly
Bamboo shoot – grilled apple
Egg – annin tofu (Almond jelly)
Chashu pork – raspberry jelly
Green onions – pistachios

Awesome Log of Wood-Cake
Sarah Lohman erklärt im Etsy-Blog, wie sie den fantastisch aussehenden Holzstamm-Kuchen mit einer alten Backform nachgebacken hat. Zusammen mit dem Woodland Cake Decorating Set sieht das Teil ungefähr so aus wie ein essbares Stück Zauberwald oder ein Ent-Kuchen oder halt ein, naja, Baumkuchen eben.
Eric, the Snake Cake
Oh, look at this! Laura made this wonderful example of a Snake Cake two years ago. Those eyes remind me of a lawyer!
Eric was carved vanilla madeira sponge cake which was then covered in sugarpaste, each scale individually imprinted, his skin handpainted and each scale highlighted before receiving his shiny coat.
Being a corn snake I made him a bed of soil amongst the withered leaves and stems of the corn plantation.

Muppet Totem and the Threadless-Cakes 2012
Yummy! Threadless hat die Teilnehmer des diesjährigen Threadcakes-Contest zusammen, in dem Leute nach Motiven der Designershirts Kuchen backen. Obiger Muppet-Totem sieht schonmal super aus, es gibt aber noch eine ganze Reihe weiterer lecker Designerkuchenshirts. Von Wired:
It all started with Cardinal’s Threadless fan blog (now defunct). Back in 2007, he was writing about new shirts, designers, and crowdsourcing and became friends with the social media team at the Chicago-based company. Then one late night, he came up with “this crazy idea to create a Threadless-themed cake-baking competition.” He asked his readers to send in cake photos, not knowing whether or not they’d take the challenge.
Bake they did. The first year generated over a hundred entries, competing for a mere $100 in prizes. The competition was featured on Digg (Remember when “Digging” was a thing!?) and received 45,000 visits in one day. The attention caught Cardinal by surprise. All of a sudden his email inbox was jammed with cake photos. “I looked through 900 pictures of cake and decided I wasn’t doing that again.” He named a winner, but had no plans to continue. But Threadless wanted another helping, and reached out to Cardinal, asking him to rerun the competition.

Ganz, ganz grandioser Kuchen von North Star Cakes. Könnte man nur noch grandioser machen, in dem man der Kuchenschlange ein Stück Toterattekuchen aus’m Maul hängen lässt, aber das muss ja nun auch nich’ sein. Fantastischer Kuchen, ich bin begeistert!
