Vor ein paar Wochen fuhr das F.A.T.-Lab als Teil ihrer Gold-Ausstellung mit einem gefakten selbstfahrenden Auto von Google durch New York, jetzt haben sie ein Tutorial auf Instructables online gestellt, mit dem man sich so ein Fake-Auto selber bauen kann. Zumindest den rotierenden Scanner auf’m Dach.
LieDar is a fake lidar sensor that you can attach to the top of your car to instantly turn it into a self-driving vehicle. Whereas some companies have spent millions of dollars developing the technology to have conversations about the future of transportation, you can butt in for a mere fraction of the cost. What fun it would be to impersonate the look of a stolen car with a screwdriver jammed into the ignition! A WHITE van man “high on drum and bass” was driving so erratically that police pulled him over thinking he must be under the influence. […] After hauling him out of his vehicle it transpired he was neither drunk nor on drugs but intoxicated by the top tunes blaring from his stereo, Bristol Crown Court was told. Professional driver Cogley, 25, formerly of Gardener Road, Portishead, but now said to be homeless, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
Mr Hollier said: “When asked about it he said he was listening to drum and bass and was in a hurry.” David Miller, defending, said Cogley was not involved in a police chase but would now lose his job. “It was stupid. He was carried away because of the intoxicating effects of drum and bass music.”
Passing sentence Recorder Mr Kevin De Haan QC described drum and bass as “Intoxicating for some. Very irritating for others.”

Der Soundpanzer ist die bisher gewaltigste Maschine aus der Werkstatt von Nik Nowak. Ein Kettenfahrzeug, dass martialisch daher kommt, um unseren Raum zu okkupieren. Aber nicht etwa mit seiner Kanone. Für Nik ist der Panzer eher ein utopisches Objekt, transferiert in unserer realen Welt. Hinter der bedrohlichen Fassade verbirgt sich nämlich etwas sehr Persönliches, fast schon Intimes.
Die Musik des Künstlers hat meist sehr dubbige und irgendwie trotzdem gewaltige Sounds. Durch die Sampler und Mischer, und all die darin gespeicherten Daten, fühlt es sich für Nik manchmal an, als sei er wie ein Cyborg mit dem Panzer verbunden.

Ich hab’ mir grade tatsächlich 12 Minuten lang russische Autos beim Crashen angesehen, hat in der konzentration ‘ne durchaus hypnotische Wirkung. Vieles davon hatte ich bereits gesehen, der Stromleitungsüberschlag toppt aber nach wie vor alles.
