Early in the day, tweeted Seattlepi.com reporter Casey McNerthney, an impromptu superhero press conference was interrupted when a tourist-laden “Ride the Ducks” amphibious vehicle rolled by, loudly blaring “Who Let the Dogs Out?” Judging by a report from Seattle’s KCPQ Fox-13 TV, Jones and his cohort spent much of the afternoon pointing out pedestrians as potential anarchists, answering impertinent questions from onlookers (“Why do you feel it necessary to be here, and not just let the police take care of it?”), and arranging to meet the other superheroes at Starbucks.
Around 4 p.m., the Seattle Police Department tweeted news of a “Brief disturbance earlier at 5th and Jackson between superheroes and clowns”—anarchists dressed as clowns, that is.

Buzzfeed hat eine Gallerie voller Fotos vom Clown Kongress in Guatemala City. Und ich verkrieche mich jetzt unters Bett und winsele vor Angst. In Sao Paulo, Brazil, the black-and-white dressed mimes crowd street corners to urge pedestrians to follow the rules. Any infraction leads to frantic miming. And in Bogota, Colombia, the mimes signify a mainstay on the streets, joining with the police officers.
Officials hope that using the visible, yet less-threatening, tactic of mimes can help break bad habits in a more congenial way. The mimes in Caracas have reported mostly compliance with their gesturing, although, as expected, the enjoyment of the mimes hasn’t proven universal. It seems some folks don’t take rebuke well, even the silly, silent variety.

Bloomsbury versteigert nächste Woche über 700 vintage Items von Gauklern, Magiern, Jongleuren und Clowns. Houdini-Plakate, Postkarten mit Grimaldi, ein Gehstock mit Bauchrednerpuppen-Knauf, alte Zauberrequisiten, Trickanleitungen, Magische Bücher, Illustrationen von Hütchenspielern (u.a. dem Papst) und und und. Wenn ich das Geld hätte, würde ich das komplette Lot aufkaufen und einen Zauberladen für vintage Magic aufmachen. Einfach nur, damit es sowas gibt.
Hier kann man sich alle 731 Dingse anschauen (via Morbid Anatomy), die Hälfte davon mit Bild, davon die Hälfte ziemlich grandios. Leider alles nur in kleiner Auflösung. Falls Ihr einer von den zwei Leuten seid, die sich für alten Magic- und Gaukler-Kram interessieren, dann empfehle ich, sich durch die Auktion einmal durchzuklicken, damit man den Kontext zu dein einzelnen Teilen mitbekommt. Für den Rest habe ich die Bilder meiner 131 Favorites in ein Flickr-Set gepackt.

Killer Klowns from outer Space – The Sequel!
X-Posting von den Filmfreunden: Seit Jahren gibt es schon Gerüchte um einen zweiten Teil von „Killer Klowns from outer Space“, jetzt hat Grant Cramer, der im Original die Hauptrolle spielte, in einem Interview Details verraten. Das Sequel heisst „The Return of the Killer Klowns From Outer Space“, die Finanzierung sowie Drehbuch steht, die Chiodo Brothers, die den ersten Teil geschrieben und inszeniert hatten, sind ebenfalls involviert und der Film hat sogar eine Facebook-Fanpage, es fehlt lediglich ein Verleih, dann geht’s los. Ich muss hoffentlich nicht erwähnen, dass ich sowas von dabei bin.
- You’ve been the main source of information regarding this sequel. What’s your involvement with the project?
I’m reprising my role as Mike Tobacco as well as producing. I also worked on the story with the Chiodo’s and wrote the screenplay.- How involved will the Chiodo’s be with the film?
The Chiodo Bros. are involved in a huge way. The original was their baby and though this one is a little bit more collaborative than the first being that I’m writing and producing with them, it’s still their brainchild and I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing it without them. Stephen will be directing, Ed producing and Charlie bringing all his wonderful creative genius as he always does. The Chiodo’s are good friends as well!- Can you share any plot details with us in regards to the film? Will it be a totally new story or will it be connected to the first?
Well, I don’t want to say too much about the story at this early juncture but I will say that it is connected to the first movie and my character will be the mentor to the two new young leads that have to try save the world from the Klowns when they return. They’re also trying to save themselves because the bad stuff the Klowns do at first gets blamed on them.-Will the original Klowns be returning or will we be treated to a new batch this time around?
Definitely we’ll have a whole new batch of Klowns. I just left the Chiodo Bros’ studio and they are dreaming up some great new Klown faces as we speak.- What’s the current status of this project?
We have a script and a commitment for all our funding but the money can’t be spent until we have a distribution deal in place so that’s where we are – talking to distributors. As soon as that final piece comes into place we should be pretty much good to go.

Clowns protest Evil Clown Festival

Clowns in Staffordshire, England, protestieren gegen ein Halloween-Festival, in dem auch Killer Clowns vorkommen.
The Carnival of Screams attraction has been launched to coincide with Halloween and promises a circus ‘that nightmares are made of’.
Thrillseekers will have to evade the clutches of killer clowns as part of the adrenaline-fuelled ride.
But a host of clowns have taken offence at the ride and yesterday protested claiming they were being portrayed in a negative light.
They barracked bosses at Alton Towers today, protesting outside the theme park’s entrance with posters and placards.
The circus performers – armed with custard pies – chained themselves to the main gates, claiming the ride would do to their reputation what Jaws did for sharks.
One protestor, Fips the Clown, said: ”We are protesting because we feel the Alton Towers Resort’s new horror maze, Carnival of Screams, is an unfair depiction of clowns.
”It only serves to reinforce stereotypes of clowns as evil.
”I can’t believe this – it has taken us years to get over Stephen King’s ‘IT’ and now this just adds to further damage the reputation of clowns worldwide.
”This will do for clowns what Jaws did for sharks.”

Dancing on the Grave of Joseph Grimaldi, the first Clown ever
Henry Krokatsis hat eine Installation auf Joseph Grimaldis Grab gebaut, auf der man tanzen kann. Grimaldi war der Erfinder des modernen Clowns.
On Grimaldi’s death on 31 May 1837 the London Illustrated News was moved to write, “Grimaldi is dead and hath left no peer. We fear with him the spirit of pantomime has disappeared.” His reinterpretation of the medieval ‘fool’ character led him to become one of the most famous clowns of all time, with the trademark clothes and face paint that he brought to the profession (see image below) defining the look of the modern performer.
In keeping with Grimaldi’s anti-authoritarian stance, Henry Krokatsis’s memorial allows visitors to the recently reopened Grimaldi Park in Islington in London to, quite literally, dance on the old clown’s grave.

Sony Ericsson Upgrading PlayNow to Real Live Music Store With 5 Million Tracks From the Big Four
In addition to the trio of new handsets they intro’d today, Sony Ericsson also announced plans for an upgraded PlayNow music service. Launching this spring, it could feature up to 5 million tracks in “MP3 and Windows Media digital rights management, or DRM-enabled formats” from all of the Big Four, though no track price has been relayed.

Charlie Chaplin Free Movie Index
The name and face of Charlie Chaplin is known worldwide. Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin Jr was born on April 16, 1889 in London and died on Christmas Day, December 25, 1977 in Switzerland in his sleep at age 88. Considered on of the finest mimes, he was also a noted director. He acted in, directed, scripted, produced and even scored his own movies. His best known character, The Tramp, was a vagrant with refined manners. His signature toothbrush moustache was his trademark. Chaplin’s earliest films (1914) were produced for Keystone Studios where he developed his Tramp character. The Tramp was first presented publically in Chalpin’s second film “Kid Auto Race at Venice,” released on February 7, 1914.
