Janus Films bringt zum 90. Geburtstag des Films eine restaurierte Fassung von Harold Lloyds ikonischem „Safety Last!“ auf BluRay und in die Kinos. Wann und ob das Teil überhaupt bei uns erscheint, weiß ich leider nicht.

Janus Films is proud to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Lloyd’s crowning achievement with a new DCP restoration sourced from an original nitrate element as well as freshly-struck 35mm prints, all featuring Carl Davis’s sparkling score.
The DCP of Safety Last! was created from a 2K transfer of an original nitrate print. Over 300 hours of digital work went into cleaning the image. Composer Carl Davis then re-synced his original score to the restored master to create the best possible match for theatrical presentation.

Die Bürgerinitiative „Sex ist mies“ warnt: „Vielfaches Betrachten von Sexfotos oder Sexfilmen führt sogar zur Verstopfung ganzer Gehirnwindungen und beeinträchtigt somit die Körperfunktionen. Frühes Altern, frühe Krankheit und früher Tod können die Folge sein.“ Wisster Bescheid.

Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts, Michael Cera, Tim und Eric (muss man Tim & Eric kennen?) haben einen YT-Comedy-Channel namens Jash gestartet. Finde ich jetzt schon lustiger, als College Humor oder Funny or die… Bin gespannt, was da kommt, kann mit der Silverman und Watts eigentlich nur gut werden.

Ich bin extrem spät zur Louis CK-Party gekommen, so circa zum Ende der dritten Staffel seiner Serie „Louie“. Ich kannte den Mann schon vorher, hatte den aber unter „lustig, aber zu derbe“ einsortiert. Seitdem hab’ ich mir alles besorgt, was er gemacht hat und als ich mir gestern seine Live-Show „Hilarious“ angesehen habe, musste ich stellenweise wirklich und tatsächlich schreien vor lachen.
Oben der Trailer zu seinem neuen Special, das am 13. April auf HBO laufen wird und im September dann auf seiner Website ohne DRM-Blödsinn für ‘nen 5er verkauft wird, auf Youtube hab’ ich grade noch seine Shows Shameless und Chewed Up gefunden. „There should be a butterfly, flying around a vagina, all the time.“

Neuer Print von Drew Friedman mit den Marx Brothers, kann man hier kaufen.
This portrait is my latest limited edition print, the three Marx brothers at the time they were filming “A Night at the Opera” at MGM in 1935. The imaged was commissioned for the book “The Art of the Marx Brothers”, to be published in 2014, which will include hundreds of illustrations and cartoons of the Marx’s, including many by the legendary Al Hirschfeld.

John Cleese plays a cash-strapped Prince of Darkness in this classic sketch from The Frost Report, the show that launched Cleese as a television star in Britain. He was 26 years old at the time. The program was hosted by David Frost, who is perhaps best known for his 1977 interviews of Richard Nixon. There were four other future Monty Python comedians on the writing staff of The Frost Report–Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Eric Idle–but only Cleese was a cast member. The show was broadcast in 1966 and 1967, with each weekly episode centered around a particular theme, like love, leisure, class and authority. The “Souls in Torment Appeal” is from a March 24, 1966 program about sin.

Measuring the Lulz of funny Videos with the amount of O in the LOLs
Google hält grade ‘nen Comedy-Slam ab und lässt User für die lustigsten Videos abstimmen. So weit, so uninteressant. Die Kandidaten für die Videos haben sie aber unter anderem dadurch ausgesucht, indem sie die LOLs in den Comments semantisch untersucht haben – und das ist im Gegensatz zu Muhaha-Videos tatsächlich sehr interessant:
We needed an algorithm to rank these funny videos by comedic potential, e.g. is “Charlie bit my finger” funnier than “David after dentist”? Raw viewcount on its own is insufficient as a ranking metric since it is biased by video age and exposure. We noticed that viewers emphasize their reaction to funny videos in several ways: e.g. capitalization (LOL), elongation (loooooool), repetition (lolololol), exclamation (lolllll!!!!!), and combinations thereof. If a user uses an “loooooool” vs an “loool”, does it mean they were more amused? We designed features to quantify the degree of emphasis on words associated with amusement in viewer comments. We then trained a passive-aggressive ranking algorithm using human-annotated pairwise ground truth and a combination of text and audiovisual features. Similar to Music Slam, we used this ranker to populate candidates for human voting for our Comedy Slam.

Golden Age Comicbook-Stories hat ‘ne sehr tolle Galerie mit alter Buster Keaton-Bildern, teilweise auch Behind-The-Scenes-Shots. Und weil’s so schön passt, hier nochmal das Buster Keaton feat. Radiohead-Video, das ich vor ein paar Jahren schonmal gepostet hatte. Mittlerweile ist es auf YT geogefickt, also hab’ ich ein bisschen gezaubert und das Teil bei Dailymotion hochgeladen.

Vicco von Bülow aka Loriot ist gestern im Alter von 87 Jahren an Altersschwäche gestorben und wir verlieren mit ihm einen der größten Unterhaltungskünstler. R.I.P.
