Ein paar Damen haben diese Illu mit Disney Prinzessinnen als Superheldinnen als Cosplay auf der ComicCon umgesetzt. Großartige Idee!
GPX: How on Earth did you guys come up with these designs, let alone the idea? They’re so incredibly original, yet still clearly recognizable!
Ashley Hay (Belle): I found this photo online from an artist on DeviantArt named Kreugan Mcgillicuddy; she had about eight of the Princesses drawn as superheroes. We took many of our designs from there while other girls made up their own.
Rebecca Denise Young (Rapunzel): As Ashley noted, she found an image on DeviantArt depicting the Princesses as superheroes. From there, we chatted and reached out to other girls whom we felt would have the passion to piece together their costumes and the love of Disney – as we do.

Der Abschuss ist dann aber noch der Badesalz-Zombie in Anlehnung an die „Zombie-Outbreak-News“-Welle vor ein paar Wochen: Face Eating Cosplay. Ich brech’ zusammen.

Morgen eröffnet die ComicCon in San Diego und diesmal veranstalten sie dazu einen „Staffel-Lauf“ mit Lichtschwertern: Course of the Force. Das Promovideo von Chris „Nerdist“ Hardwick ist tatsächlich recht witzig und voller Ewoks, Boba Fett und Sandleute. Außerdem wird Robert Kirkman die Hand abgehackt.

Nur für den Fall, dass ihr’s verpasst habt: Gestern gab’s auf der ComicCon den ersten Trailer zu „The Walking Dead“. Bislang gibt’s davon nur obige Bootleg-Version, der sieht aber schonmal richtig, richtig gut aus. Außerdem haben sie eine zweite Staffel bestätigt und George A. Romero himself wird bei einer Folge die Regie übernehmen. Der hat sich zwar mit seinen letzten Filmen nicht wirklich mit Ruhm bekleckert, aber bei nur einer Folge mit fertigem Script wird er nicht allzuviel kaputtmachen können.
Wie auch immer: Es gab ein Panel mit Zombie-Experten von Max Brooks bis Seth Grahame-Smith und auf Discover gibt’s ein paar Highlights davon:
Max Brooks (World War Z): “Fast versus slow? Slow zombies are based on the hypothetical mobility scenario of necrotic flesh subjugated to high impact energy… and fast zombies, suck.”
“The whole thing about zombies was the sheer size of the problem. The whole thing about monsters, is you have to make a personal choice to go find them….you have to make a choice. With zombies, they come to you, and there is no safe place. That’s thing about zombies is they are global, it is big, it is all encompassing. You could still make the right decisions, they would come for you, and it didn’t matter if you were a hot chick or a token black guy, you were dead.” […]

Gestern auf einer ComicCon-Party im Hard Rock Hotel in a galaxy, far far away… Spike.com hat noch ein nettes Video mit ComicCon-Boothbabes zusammengeschnibbelt, aber die Leia-on-Leia-Action schlägt so schnell nichts. Zumindest so lange, bis der erste richtige Walking Dead-Trailer online aufpoppt, Bootlegs davon hatte ich gestern Nacht bei den F5 gepostet. (via Geeks are sexy)

Die Westboro Baptist-Deppen wurden auf der ComicCon von Cosplayern und Nerds mit ein paar tollen Schildern empfangen. Das „God hates Jedi“-Schild von dem Trekkie oben ist ernst gemeint, glaube ich.
They’ve faced down humans time and time again, but Fred Phelps and his minions from the Westboro Baptist Church were not ready for the cosplay action that awaited them today at Comic-Con. After all, who can win against a counter protest that includes robots, magical anime girls, Trekkies, Jedi and…kittens?

Die Westboro Baptist Church sind die Komödianten unter den freilaufenden Wahnsinnigen und jetzt haben sie sich Nerd-Mekka als nächstes Ziel ihrer „GOD HATES EVERYTHING“-Proteste ausgesucht. Als ob da nicht sowieso schon genug Irre rumlaufen. Ich sehe schon jede Menge Bilder von Leuten in Star Trek-Uniformen, die vor religiösen Vollirren den Vulkanier-Gruß machen und den Verblendeten Frieden und ein langes Leben wünschen.

The Blood Factory ist Danny DeVitos Horrorshortfilm-Website und die hat einen Stand auf der ComicCon (die nächste Woche anfängt, während der ich wohl Nachtschichten einlegen werde, weil dort immer pure Awesomeness in die Realität gekippt wird) und das da oben ist ein „Interview“ mit DeVito, der halb aufgegessen auf dem Buffet liegt und dessen Gesicht auf einem Sandwich landet. That is all.

George Lucas is an evil genius. There is simply no other reasonable explanation for what has just occurred in my formerly contentedly geeky family. I can barely bring myself to write this… Earlier this week, my kids decided that they think Jar Jar Binks is great.

MaximumPC hat eine Galerie mit nicht weniger als 600 Bildern von Cosplayern auf der ComicCon 2009.
After four days of wandering the show floor, sitting in on movie studio panels, and epic line waiting, we’ve come out of Comic-Con 2009 with the mother load: 600 (yes, SIX HUNDRED) photos of the most intricate, sexy, and spellbinding cosplay that showed up this year. Star Wars and Superheroes were well represented, but we also snapped up shots of PC gaming icons, including several Team Fortress 2 teams and an amazing Left 4 Dead group. Legions of slave Leias weren’t afraid to bare their skin and the forces of Cobra proudly showed off their guns.

Anläßlich der Eröffnung der Comic Con hat Google sein Logo mit Batman gepimpt. Und Wonder Woman. Und einer DC Comics-Version von Mr. Fantastic. Und der grünen Leuchte. Warum zum Geier der lameste Comic-Charakter, ever? Grüne Leuchte my Ass. Egal, dennoch schöne Geste.

“Dawn of the Gearheads” – Comic gratis im Netz
Scott Morse zeichnet gerade sein Comic “Dawn of the Gearheads” – er tuscht direkt und macht keine Vorzeichnungen – und stellt jede fertige Seite ins Netz – sobald er alle Seiten fertig hat (es sollen insgesamt 28 werden), kann man sich für kurze Zeit das komplette Werk herunterladen – danach verschwindet es von seiner Website und wird als limitierte Ausgabe (50 Stück!) auf der Comic Con erhältlich sein. Noch 5 Seiten, dann ist es soweit! (via)
