The Private Eye: Selfpublished Comic by Brian K. Vaughan

Our first new storyline is THE PRIVATE EYE, a forward-looking mystery we created with colorist Muntsa Vicente. Set in a future where privacy is considered a sacred right and everyone has a secret identity, The Private Eye is a serialized sci-fi detective story for mature readers.
You can download our 32-page first issue right now, for any price you think is fair. 100% of your payments go directly into our greedy mitts and will help fund the rest of a story that we’re both very proud of (we hope there will be around 10 issues total; an old-school “maxiseries!”), so thanks for reading…

Fantastic early Mickey Mouse-Illustrations

Mickey Mouse hatte ihren ersten Auftritt in Farbe drei Jahre vorher im Cartoon Parade of the Award Nominees.
Created specially for then Princess Elizabeth, now Queen, way back in 1935, this art of Mickey and friends, charming and cheerful as they spend time in London, appeared in The Princess Elizabeth Gift Book, In Aid of the Princess Elizabeth of York Hospital for Children.
Donald is still pretty primitive in appearance, Goofy is still Dippy Dawg, the Limeys are loopy—and this is definitely the mouse’s finest era. Note how Horace is demonstrating the royal backhand wave.

PBS Minidoc: The Rise of Webcomics
Nette neue Minidoku von PBS Offbook über Webcomics:
The internet has given birth to yet another new medium: web comics. Moving beyond the restrictions of print, web comic artists interact directly with audiences who share their own unique worldview, and create stories that are often embedded in innovative formats only possible online. Sometimes funny, sometimes personal, and almost always weird, web comic creators have taken the comic strip form to new, mature, and artistic heights.

Kick Ass 2 – Red Band Trailer
Youtube Direktkick, via Bleeding Cool
The costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows.
(Großartig, wie der Trailer zu dem „Thumbs Up, Not Guns!“-Posting passt, oder? Find’ ich super!)
Communist Remix of the Avengers

“Communism’s mightiest superheroes in their most dangerous adventure ever” promises the cover strapline of this glowing tribute to the style of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Communism’s mightiest super-heroes, striking at the heart of evil Capitalism for the workers of the world! Many years ago two men changed comics forever. Their work reflected the attutides of the country in which they lived – attitudes focused on a certain other country behind a certain Iron Curtain. Freedom Collective is the tale that asks: what if those two giants of comics had lived in THAT country, and shared ITS hopes and fears?
Can the Krimson Kommisar, MIG-4, Mastodon, Ajys and Homeland deafeat the power of the evil Chief? It is a crime against the State not to buy the comic and find out. And crimes against the State are taken VERY seriously.

Wally Woods Disneyland Orgy on 2 Skate Decks

Toll, alles!
Disney had been [Mickey, Donald Duck, Goofys] Intelligent Designer, and he had repressed all their baser instincts, but since he had departed they could finally shed their cumulative inhibitions and participate together in an unspeakable Roman binge, to signify the crumbling of an empire. I assigned Mad magazine artist Wally Wood to create — as a black-and-white center-spread for The Realist which then became a popular poster – the infamous Disneyland Memorial Orgy.
Pluto is pissing on a portrait of Mickey Mouse, while the real, bedraggled Mickey is shooting up heroin with a hypodermic needle. His nephews are jerking off as they watch a combination bed and cash register where Minnie Mouse is fucking Goofy. The beams shining out from the Magic Castle are actually dollar signs. Dumbo the elephant is simultaneously flying and shitting on an infuriated Donald Duck. Huey, Dewey and Louie are ogling Daisy Duck’s asshole as she watches the Seven Dwarves groping Snow White. The Prince is snatching a peek at Cinderella’s snatch while trying a glass slipper on her foot. The Three Little Pigs are humping each other in a daisy chain. Jiminy Cricket is leering as Tinker Bell does a striptease and Pinocchio’s nose gets longer and longer.

Stripped: A Documentary about Comic Strips
Youtube Direktstrip, via Waxy
Whoa!
STRIPPED is a love-letter to comic strips. It brings together the world’s best cartoonists to talk about the art form they love, and what happens to it as newsprint fades away. Over 90 interviews were conducted, including the first-ever audio interview with Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes), as well as Jim Davis (Garfield), Cathy Guisewite (Cathy), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Mike & Jerry (Penny Arcade), Matt Inman (The Oatmeal), Jeff Keane (The Family Circus), Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics), Lynn Johnston (FBOFW), Zach Weiner (SMBC), Scott Kurtz (PvP), Scott McCloud (Understanding Comics), Richard Thompson (Cul de Sac), Jeph Jacques (Questionable Content), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Bill Amend (Foxtrot), Kate Beaton (Hark! A Vagrant) and more.
STRIPPED sits down with these creators to talk about how cartooning works, why it’s so loved, and how they’re navigating this dicey period between print and digital options…when neither path works perfectly.

Hawkeye Initiative Cosplay

The Batman of Bradford
A mystery man dressed as Batman demonstrated the same crime-fighting skills as the caped crusader when he handed over a suspect wanted for burglary in Britain.
Closed-circuit television footage showed a portly figure wearing an ill-fitting costume including gloves, cape and mask, bringing a 27-year-old man to a police station in Bradford in northern England. The suspect was arrested and charged with handling stolen goods and fraud-related offences, said the force. But the costumed crime-fighter disappeared into the night without leaving his name.
Timothy Learys Neurocomics

Neurocomic about the Science of Brains

Artist Matteo Farinella and neuroscientist Hana Ros of University College London collaborated to create a graphic novel called Neurocomic about a hapless character who is sucked into a human brain where he encounters bizarre creatures and famous neuroscientists. The objective is to introduce the neurochemical workings of the brain to a wider audience, so entertainment, storytelling and clever metaphors are just as important to the enterprise as the science
