Blue Velvet Cupcakes
Alyssa von Sup Cakes hat diese Ohren-Auf-Der-Grünen-Wiese-Cupcakes aus David Lynchs Blue Velvet gemacht, Miss Cakehead verkauft auch ein bisschen Lynch-Gebäck und Dangerous Minds haben noch ein paar Ohren-Cupcakes gefunden, die aber nicht ganz so toll aussehen und von denen ich nicht rausfinden konnte, wer sie gemacht hat.
Und weil das Intro zu Blue Velvet immer noch die beste Eröffnungsszene aller Zeiten ist, hier ein bisschen Gewürm in Suburban Utopia:
Twin Peaks Season 3 coming?
Ich geb’ normalerweise nichts auf Gerüchte, vor allem nicht aus Filmblogs, aber das hier muss ich trotzdem bringen, auch wenn sich fast alle Quellen auf ein einziges Posting auf 4Chan (!) beziehen. Aber man munkelt, David Lynch befände sich in konkreten Gesprächen für eine dritte Staffel von Twin Peaks.
Der Plot wäre laut den Gerüchten in der heutigen Zeit angesiedelt, Bad Cooper säße im Knast während Good Cooper im Red Room gefangen wäre und eine junge Reporterin käme all dem auf die Spur. Ob da irgendwas dran ist, werden wir sehen, Diane, aber die Gerüchte ergeben recht viel Sinn, finde ich. David Lynchs letzter Film liegt 7 Jahre zurück, seitdem fotografiert der Mann und macht Musik. Eine Rückkehr zum Serien-Format würde passen. Und aus Produzentensicht wäre eine dritte Twin Peaks-Staffel ein sicherer Hit, wirklich abwegig sind die Gerüchte also nicht.
- Season 3 is set the same amount of time since it has been since season 2
- Lynch wants to be very hands on with the project but the executives were very open about how “unusual” his tastes were. They seemed a little on edge about him tackling it alone
- Lynch wants most of the cast back
- The Story would resolve around the fact that Cooper is still in the lodge, and a young (female!) reporter will basically uncovered the truth behind Twin Peaks, BOB, and the lodge.
- Since season 2, bad Cooper has been in Prison in another state for the murder of 2 Twin Peaks residents. He didn’t know which ones yet. It seems since season 2 bad Cooper went on a Rampage. Everyone still thinks it’s the real Cooper.
- Lynch was adamant that the show opens by recreating the first red room scene in season 1. This takes place in modern day, and was a hint that Cooper would be trapped within the red room.

Twin Peaks Intro deconstructed
Art of the Title dekonstruiert das Intro zu Lynchs Twin Peaks und findet da Parallelen zu unter anderem „Blue Velvet“, heidnischen Naturreligionen und Mythen, die mir so noch nicht bewusst waren.
Keen fans of David Lynch will note the strong graphic match between the robin in Blue Velvet and the wren in Twin Peaks. It’s made all the more complementary since both film and TV series deal with the surreal in American suburbia. Yet looking at the birds’ meanings in animal mythology and symbolism is even more intriguing: both species share a distinct relationship in the folklore of Anglo-Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Druidic, and Wiccan cultures. There are countless poems and distichs dedicated to the two birds, including the well-known verse, “a robin and a wren are God Almighty’s cock and hen.” A story shared between the cultures:
The Wren (the Oak King) is the king of the Waning Year. He rules on from Winter’s solstice (or Yule) to midsummer, killing off the Robin (the Holly King) and king of the Waxing year in the process. On Summer’s solstice, the Robin kills off the Wren and begins its rule. The cycle repeats itself with each season.
In Blue Velvet, the robin is introduced towards the end of the film, in the warmth of summer. In Twin Peaks, the wren is the first image in the title sequence and a few images later, we see that the sequence is set in winter as there is snow on the cliffs of the Snoqualmie Falls.

Richard Beymers Fotos am Set von David Lynchs Twin Peaks geistern jetzt auch schon ein paar Jahre durchs Netz, ich hatte die Dinger schonmal vor vier Jahren gebloggt, aber da der Link von damals tot und die Aufnahmen immer noch fantastisch sind, jetzt eben nochmal.
When Twin Peaks’ in-house photographer had quit and no further promotional shots were needed since the show was cancelled, Richard Beymer (Benjamin Horne) took his Olympus camera to the set and was given David Lynch’s thumbs up to document the last days of filming the show. His behind the scenes photography (partly included in the Twin Peaks Gold Box DVD set) has become legendary, showing the actors both in and out of character, and The Black Lodge from angles you haven’t seen it before.

David Lynchs Spider-Man Illu-Contest
Warren Ellis hat auf Whitechappel einen Contest am laufen, in dem die Teilnehmer Illus zum fiktiven Spider-Man-Film von David Lynch einreichen können. Die meisten Beiträge sind doof, wenige gut und obiger von ScorpioSteele ist awesome: FBI-Agent Dale Cooper aus Twin Peaks als Peter Parker! Toll!
Das Thema letzte Woche war übrigens Steampunk-Batman, aber da sind die Artworks ebenfalls eher so meh, allerdings auch ein oder zwei nette Sachen dabei. (via Superpunch)

Das erbrechende Einhorn hat eine David Lynch-Comic-Biographie und die scheint reichlich doof zu sein: „1992 war David Lynchs großer Hype um Twin Peaks schon fast vergessen. Für Revolutionary Comics war das aber dennoch kein Grund eine unauthorisierte und reichlich dämliche Comic-Biographie namens “David Lynch: That Hot, Sweat-Filled Feeling.” zu veröffentlichen.“

Meine Jugendliebe Sean Young (Dune, Bladerunner) hat auf dem Set von David Lynchs Verfilmung von „Dune“ mit einer Super8-Kamera gefilmt und vor ein paar Tagen ein Video davon auf Youtube hochgeladen. Hat zwar keine Sandwürmer, dafür aber tonnenweise SciFiFlick-Nostalgie.

20 Jahre Twin Peaks
Um einen Tag verpasst, aber egal: Am 8. April 1990 strahlte ABC den Piloten von Twin Peaks aus, die bis heute wahrscheinlich innovativste Serie, die jemals gedreht wurde.
Ich erinnere mich noch ziemlich genau an die erste Folge und wie sie mich damals mit ihrem Soundtrack und diesem unglaublichen Plot förmlich in den Apparat reinzog. Das war einer der wenigen Momente, in dem wahre Magie im Fernsehen stattfand. (Ein anderer Moment war wohl die Buntstiftlutscherei der Titanic bei Wetten Das, aber das hat ja nun nix mit Twin Peaks zu tun, auch wenn das Drehbuch von David Lynch hätte stammen können.)
Twin Peaks steht für mich bis heute dafür, was Fernsehen sein könnte, wenn es wollte und nicht auf beknackte Quoten und Shareholder-fucking-Values schielen müsste und selbst Serienperlen wie Six Feet Under können vor Twin Peaks nur den Hut ziehen. Agent Cooper FTW!
Back in the summer of 1989, I was invited to a sneak preview of a TV pilot. I didn’t know anything about it, but the moment I heard its opening theme music, I got shivers that didn’t go away. This was TV the way I dreamed it could be — funny, menacing, mysterious. In fact, it was so weird and wonderful that, as I walked from the theater, I remember saying, “Too bad no network will ever put it on the air.”
Goes to show what I know. What I’d seen, of course, was the pilot of Twin Peaks, and several months later, ABC did put it on the air, creating an instant sensation. It wasn’t simply that the program was a hit or that Time put David Lynch on its cover, dubbing him a genius. Here was a show that had everyone talking the next day about the startling things they’d seen the night before — you know, a spooky reflection of the long-haired Killer BOB, or the time that the sexpot Audrey Horne tied the cherry stem into a knot with her tongue.

Jamie Salmon kopiert mehr oder weniger die Arbeit von Ron Mueck, ist dabei nur etwas weniger künstlerisch (na gut, er fügt seinen Arbeiten noch einen Hauch Dekonstruktivismus hinzu, zugegeben).
Beides vergebe ich aber sofort, weil er 1.) u.a. auch mit echtem Menschenhaar arbeitet (Eeeeek!) und 2.) eine riesige Skulptur von David Lynchs Gesicht gebastelt hat.

ZOMG! Die Leute hinter dem David Lynch Mashup-Album haben die Videos zu den Tracks zu einem rund 83 Minuten langen Film zusammengeschnitten. Ein David Lynch Mashup Movie, der Film zum Soundtrack quasi, inklusive neuem Audio-Material. Gibt’s als 4,5Gigabyte-DVD-Version, als 600MB-DivX, beide Versionen als Torrents und auf Vimeo (s.o.)
Sie haben es zwar tatsächlich geschafft, das langweiligste aller Vorschaubilder bei Vimeo zu nehmen, das macht das Ding hier aber nicht weniger over the top awesome. Nochmal: ein fucking David Lynch Mashup Movie zum wohl besten Mashup Album 2008, ich bin sehr, sehr begeistert. Hell, yeah!
Und nicht vergessen: If you’re playing the film on your fucking telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience the film.
David Lynch has created some of the most sustaining and psychogenic fugue-inducing films of our day. The man is a singular entity.
The soundtracks he has created and compiled for these films are often as confounding and compelling as the images they accompany.
To honor his films, their soundtracks, and their soundscapes, we of 1086 Productions and our collaborators devised Mashed in Plastic: the David Lynch mash-up album, a collection of sounds from David Lynch films mixed together with other songs. The album is a continuous flowing whole, encompassing the breadth of Lynch’s filmic career.
And now, the coup de grâce: 1086 Productions’ own esteemed Gavin (The Reborn Identity) has created video to accompany every single track, every single sound, on the audio album. Each of the eighteen videos (plus added bonus extras!) is a foray into the mind of Lynch. Each of Gav’s creations, while honoring the films of Lynch, also give us sight into an alternate universe, one in which Lynch’s dames, dwarves, and demons dance among the pop glitterati and multifarious others.
Now go inside and dwell awhile with the others . . . then see if you can find your way back out.

The Kleptones – Voodoo Sabotage plus neue Videos zum David Lynch-Mashup-Album
Zuerst mal ein kleiner Arschtreter zum Wachwerden: Die Kleptones haben ihr neues Mashup-Album fast fertig (und das wird mit Sicherheit, wie alles von den Kleptones, der reine Wahnsinn) und haben einen der Tracks schonmal als Preview online gestellt:
