Vor ein paar Tagen schon hatte ich einen netten Remix des Tr2n-Trailers gesehen, jetzt haben Eclectic Method auch noch einen nachgeschoben. Zum Mix von Eclectic Method gibt’s übrigens noch eine nette Microsite, auf der allerdings auch nicht mehr, als das Video passiert, hier noch das MP3. Und falls Ihr’s nicht mitbekommen habt: Disney hat sechs Tracks von Daft Punks Tron Legacy-Soundtrack online gestellt.

Fotograf Seth Kushner hat meine Lieblingsmasher von Eclectic Method abgelichtet und daraus sowas wie ein Foto-Comic gebastelt, in dem sie ihre Arbeit erklären. Von EMs Website: „The very cool photographer Seth Kushner recently interviewed and photographed Jonny and has turned into comic book form for his Culture Pop Series on Act-i-vate“.

Copyright Criminals: Doku über Sampling, Mashups und Urheberrecht
Vor ein paar Tagen hatte die neue Doku „Copyright Criminals“ (Filmwebsite) auf PBS Premiere, der Film erscheint mir nicht ganz so super, wie „RIP: A Remix Manifesto“ (den gibt’s hier), aber immer noch sehr sehenswert, nicht zuletzt, weil die Masher Eclectic Method mitwirken.
Und natürlich ist der Film jetzt auf Youtube aufgetaucht, bis er wegen (Achtung!) Copyright Crime gelöscht wird. Hier der erste Teil, weitere Infos und alle weiteren Teile nach dem Klick.

Eclectic Methods 99 Classic Albums-Mashup

Eclectic Method haben aus einem Viral der Band Phish einen ihrer Audio-Video-Mashups gebastelt. Phish spielen traditionell zu Halloween ein komplettes, klassisches Album, sozusagen als „Musical Costume“. Dieses Jahr hatten sie ein Viral zum Gig, in dem 99 Alben vorkamen und aus denen haben EM ihr Mashup erstellt.
Und weil Marillions Sänger Fish mit Nachnamen heisst, werde ich bis in alle Ewigkeit die Band Phish mit dem 80s-Song „Kayleigh“ in Verbindung bringen, obwohl die überhaupt gar nix miteinander zu tun haben.
DJs Eclectic Method are the creators of the secret intro video to the “musical costume” second set of Phish’s 2009 Halloween performance in Indio, CA. Taking Phish’s brilliant viral “99 Albums” online promotion to the next level, the London born/Brooklyn-based trio sourced content from all 99 albums, and remixed them into a single, profound, beat-driven AV collage, screened to the tens of thousands of fans in attendance just before the band took stage to perform their Halloween ritual of covering an iconic album.

Die Über-Masher Eclectic Method haben sich in ihrem neuesten Video „Back to the Future“ angenommen und das ist leider nicht mehr als nett geworden, gemessen an ihrem vorangegangenen Output und erst recht, wenn sie dieses Video als ihr bisher aufwändigstes bezeichnen.
‘Back to the Back to the Future’ is Eclectic Method’s most time-consuming remix video to date as they transition to incorporating more narrative themes in their work. “Our editing process mostly revolves around collecting many, many audio/video samples,” says Jonny Wilson, one of the New York-based members of the group. “We then work with them much in the same way a composer might compose with a sampler, but we are always keeping in mind the video element.” Similar to the style of ‘The Tarantino Mixtape,’ Eclectic Method incorporates Back to the Future’s iconic images with its equally popular soundtrack packed with ‘80s powerhouse Huey Lewis and the News and the film’s timeless orchestrated theme song–all on top of a solid base beat, of course.
Und das beste aller Back To The Future-Videos schlägt es erst recht nicht, hier nochmal der goldene (!) DeLorean ohne Flux-Kompensator.

Hier ein Live-Video von Eclectic Method, über deren unglaubliche Remix-Videos ich schonmal im Oktober letzts Jahr gebloggt hatte (Sarah Palin Remixed). Das hier ist komplett irrsinniges Live-Remix-DeeVideojaying und ich will diesen Michael Jackson Remix, der ab Minute 3:30 läuft. Und das ist gottseidank nicht alles, warne aber vor: ich habe eben grade einen Hammer gefunden, bei dem ich mir ganz fest auf die Zunge respektive Finger beissen muss, um nicht KREISCH zu tippen. Zu spät.

Eclectic Method – featuring London natives Jonny Wilson, Ian Edgar and Geoff Gamlen – helped pioneer the emerging art of audio-visual mixing since first cutting U2’s Mysterious Ways music video with the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic as an experiment back in 2002. The trio’s audio-visual mash-ups feature television, film, music and video game footage sliced and diced into blistering, post-modern dance floor events. It’s a cyclone of music and images mashed together in a world where Kill Bill fight scenes and Dave Chappelle’s Rick James rants are ingeniously cut and looped over bootleg samples, DVD scratches and pumped-up dance anthems.
