Here are all of the comedy film posters [Frank Frazetta] created between 1965-74, in full color, as well as a few extra pieces. By the seventies, FF basically was creating art for himself, not needing to take on assignments aside from every now and then on a whim. FF also created poster images for several seventies fantasy/horror films, and later a Clint Eastwood film (The Gauntlet) but I’m only including his film comedy work here.

Crosseyed Cyclops hatte kürzlich ein CBR mit nicht weniger als 550 Artworks von Illustrator-Legende Frank Frazetta, die meisten davon in mindestens ordentlicher Auflösung. Ich hab’ das Ding entpackt und komplett bei Flickr hochgeladen: Frank Frazetta Portfolio. Da sind ein paar Doubletten dabei – die habe ich nicht aussortiert, meistens handelt es sich dabei um unterschiedliche Prints und/oder farbkorrigierte Versionen.

Hero Complex hat einen sehr schönen Nachruf auf Fantasy-Illustrator-Legende Frank Frazetta, der vor zwei Tagen an einem Schlaganfall verstarb, in dem Guillermo del Toro, Neal Adams und John Milius zu Wort kommen.
Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-nominated co-writer of “Pan’s Labyrinth,” which he also directed along with the “Hellboy” films, said that Frazetta was nothing less than “an Olympian artist that defined fantasy art for the 20th century.” The filmmaker, reached Monday in New Zealand where he is working on a two-film adaptation of “The Hobbit,” said Frazetta’s influence is difficult to explain to people outside the fantasy world, just as Norman Rockwell would be an elusive figure to define for someone unfamiliar with the U.S. heartland.
“He gave the world a new pantheon of heroes,” the filmmaker said by e-mail. “He took the mantle from J. Allen St. John and Joseph Clement Coll and added blood, sweat and sexual power to their legacy…. He somehow created a second narrative layer for every book he ever illustrated.”

Frank Frazetta, der bekannteste aller Fantasy- und SciFi-Pulp-Illustratoren, ist heute im Alter von 82 Jahren an einem Schlaganfall gestorben. Frazetta hatte an den Titelseiten von Buck Rogers mitgearbeitet, seine Cover für Conan, der Barbar, Vampirella, Tarzan und John Carter of Mars waren stilbildend und er hatte Pulp-Covergestaltung geprägt, wie kein anderer.
Ich habe in meinem Regal nicht wenige Bücher und Comics mit seinen Covern stehen und es ist ein bisschen so, als würde ein alter Bekannter gehen. RIP, Frank.
