Irgendjemand kam auf die grandiose Idee, seiner Freundin einen Heiratsantrag in Binärcode auf Facebook per Video als Bender verkleidet zu machen. Ich weiß grade nicht, ob ich mich einfach für die beiden freuen oder die Dame bemitleiden soll.
My boyfriend told me I had to close my laptop for a couple minutes, then when I logged back on this was posted to my facebook wall. He sat across the room as I transcribed and then decoded it. After about a half hour I found out it says, “Rachel, you are awesome. Will you marry me?” I said yes, of course :B

On Thursday, Matt Groening and David X. Cohen’s cerebral laugher caps its sixth season with “The Mutants are Revolting,” a sharp finale probing the open wounds of illegal aliens. Once ass-kicking space babe Leela is outed as a mutant, she spearheads an underground revolt from the sewers to strike terror into the hearts of smarmy surface dwellers.

In der gestern gezeigten, neuesten Folge von Futurama ging’s um Twitter, Facebook, Apple und das iPhone. Oben ein Fake-Commercial daraus, auf Viddler gibt’s noch einen (längeren) Ausschnitt und die Folge ist natürlich irgendwo in diesem Internetz zu haben, wenn man danach sucht (ja, sie läuft grade eben im Hintergrund und sie ist ein einziger Twitter-AugmentedReality-iPhone-Online-Nerdgasm) und das Bild oben gibt’s hier als Wallpaper. An unflattering video of Leela makes the rounds online, thanks to Fry. The episode features what ends up of Facebook, iPod, iPhone and Twitter in the future, now under the corporate control of Mom.
Mainly, the episode focuses on the new phone released by Mom, the eyePhone. Throughout the episode, numerous references are made to the iPhone and the numerous memes surrounding it, examples include a character saying “there’s an app for that”, and a sequence where Leela and Fry realize that it is also a phone, which they had not noticed, due to its immense amount of apps. The main plot of the episode is Mom’s attempt to take over the world, through a network of short status updates, a reference to Twitter, by using targeted ads.
Futuramas New New York in Lego
Matt De Lanoy hat Futuramas New New York in Lego nachgebaut, inklusive dem Kopf-Museum. Ein Bild vom Pizza Express daraus machte neulich die Runde, das Teil war allerdings alt und gehörte zu einer ganzen Sammlung auf Flickr. Und als nächstes hätte ich gerne ein LED-LEGO-ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

Space Invaders Futurama Game – A game of a cartoon of a game
In der Futurama-Folge „Anthology of Interest II“ bekämpfen Fry fiese Space Invaders. Game-Designer Shinobi bastelt grade aus dieser Szene einen tatsächlichen Space Invader-Clon. Oben ein Gameplay-Video, Snip von Gameswatch:
If you’ve seen Futurama’s “Anthology of Interest II” episode, specifically its Raiders of the Lost Arcade segment, you’ll remember Fry and friends jumping into a mobile air artillery platform to fight off a swarm of raiding Nintendians in a very Space Invaders-esque scene.
Game designer Shinobi is recreating that scene as an actual PC game (a game of a cartoon of a game!) right down to Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” soundtrack. He has even added video clips from the episode that pop in during gameplay, sort of like those scripted parts in StarFox, when Peppy Hare would plead with you to do a barrel roll.
Popplers & Slurm: Zwei Rezepte auf Futurama-Basis
Jason Henninger von Tor.com erfindet Rezepte, die auf Science-Fiction basieren. Bislang kamen dabei Rezepte nach den Serien Farscape und Babylon 5 bei raus, beides Serien, die ich nicht wirklich auf dem Schirm habe. Heute aber widmet er sich Futurama und erfindet ein Rezept für Slurm, dem suchtgefährdendem Drink aus dem Sekret der außerirdischen Schneckenkönigin, und eins für die Popplers, die wie Hackfleischbällchen aussehen, tatsächlich aber Aliens von Omicron Persei 8 sind.
When I thought of making Futurama food, two choices stuck out in my mind: Popplers and Slurm. Slurm is a highly addictive soda made of the secretions of a giant alien slug queen. In re-creating Slurm, I had to marry the two concepts of Mountain Dew (which Slurm is pretty obviously based on) and royal Slurm Queen slug-jelly.
My first attempt was a mix of soda and lime Jell-O, which my daughter loved but I thought tasted like bubbly Pine-Sol. The second method was much better. Pineapple soda is really only recognizable as pineapple when it’s yellow. When green, it might as well be from another planet. Though I don’t usually like to use food coloring (I think it’s cheating), I felt it was necessary here.
Slurm
One 2-liter bottle of pineapple-flavored soda (room temperature)
1/2 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
A few drops of blue food coloringPour a cup of soda into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Take it off the heat and stir in the gelatin until totally dissolved. Add in one cup of room temperature soda and mix it well. Allow it to cool about ten minutes. Put the bottle of soda in the sink, as it will foam up when you add the gelatin liquid. Using a funnel, pour the mixture back into the bottle. When the frothing subsides, add the food coloring, just a couple drops until the soda is light green. Re-cap and refrigerate a couple hours. The result is a green, sweet, strangely thickened, lightly carbonated beverage.
I recommend mixing equal parts Slurm and vodka to make a Slurmtini. Garnish with a slivered gummi worm.

Am Montag erscheint (in England und Amerika) die dritte Futurama DVD „Benders Game“, in deren Extras findet sich diese Verarsche der Anti-Piracy-Ads, wie sie auch schon ähnlich damals in der IT-Crowd zu sehen war, nur geht es hier und Raumschiffe, Köpfe und schlagende Herzen. You wouldn’t steal a spaceship!

Futurama – The Whole Cast
Das olle Bild mit der gesamten Besetzung der Simpsons ist noch bekannt, nehm ich mal an. Das gleiche gibt’s jetzt auch für Futurama und wer mir verrät, warum Dr. John Zoidberg hier blau statt pinkfarben ist, der gewinnt vier Tentakel für die nächste Oberkieferbehandlung. Hail to the Hypno-Toad!
