The Story of Anvil) mit Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel und James D’Arcy. Sieht großartig aus, muss man sehen: „HITCHCOCK is a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock, and his wife and partner Alma Reville. The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie PSYCHO.“

Schöner Clip aus dem Academy Film Archive mit Hitchcocks „Press Book on Film“, in dem er die Regeln zum Psycho-Gucken erklärt. Hitchcock hatte damals die komplette Promo für den Film selbst übernommen, Anthony Perkins und Janet Leigh Fernsehauftritte untersagt und eine „No Late Admission“ ausgerufen. Leute, die zu spät ins Kino kamen, wurden nicht mehr reingelassen.

Showings of the film began on a tightly-controlled schedule in theatres in New York, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia. And a firm “no late admission” policy was put in place. You either saw the film from the very beginning, or you didn’t see it all. Signs appeared in front of cinemas reading:
We won’t allow you to cheat yourself. You must see PSYCHO from the very beginning. Therefore, do not expect to be admitted into the theatre after the start of each performance of the picture. We say no one — and we mean no one — not even the manager’s brother, the President of the United States, or the Queen of England (God bless her)!
Theatre managers initially balked at the idea, fearing financial losses. But Hitchcock had his way.

Die Gallery 1988 hat alle Artworks aus ihrer Hitchcock-Artshow online gestellt. Viele der Arbeiten sind allerhöchstens nett (die Hitchcock-NES-Fakes finde ich sogar ganz und gar furchtbar und diletantisch), aber ich liebe Kate Keltons Birds-Arbeiten und Alfred E. Hitchcock.

Tolle Arbeit von Jeff Desom, der für eine Installation alle Shot aus Hitchcocks “Fenster zum Hof” ausgeschnitten und in einem einzigen Zeitraffer-Panorama-Loop neu zusammengesetzt hat.
I dissected all of Hitchcock’s Rear Window and stiched it back together in After Effects. I stabilized all the shots with camera movement in them. Since everything was filmed from pretty much the same angle I was able to match them into a single panoramic view of the entire backyard without any greater distortions. The order of events stays true to the movie’s plot.

Rob Ager nimmt Filme im Detail auseinander. Oben als Beispiel der erste Teil seiner Analyse von Hitchcocks Psycho, sehr viele weitere Clips gibt’s auf seiner Website mit Analysen von A Clockwork Orange, Aliens, Big Lebowski, ET, Full Metal Jacket, Hellraiser, Pulp Fiction, Shining, 2001, Taxi Driver und anderen. Auf der Website gibt’s die Analysen auch als Transkript, aus seinem Schizo-Text zu Psycho:
The central theme, as displayed by Norman Bates’ schizoid personality switching, is the concept of multiple identity or role play. In Norman’s case the psychological need to inhabit multiple roles in life is explained at the end of the film by a psychiatrist at the police station. Hitchcock handed this information to us on a plate like giving out candy to children so that we would walk away thinking we knew what the story was about. What isn’t told to us directly, but is demonstrated through images and subtext, is that the other characters of the story are also living out schizoid realities. Each of the main characters inhabits their own psychological narrative, while occasionally shifting identity to play out the role of someone else. In many instances the characters actually double for each other.
Take Marion Crane for example. Her reality is fractured and broken from the outset. She plays the role of a humble secretary, yet switches into a secretive and less than respectable girl during lunch break rendezvous with her lover Sam. It is also established that, just like Norman Bates, her relationship with her Mother is double-natured. She talks of wanting to introduce Sam to her Mother by having a respectable dinner. Sam replies “And after the steak? Do we send sister to the movies and turn mommas picture to the walls?” Bates has the same problem introducing sexual partners to his mother. Later, Marion literally adopts a new identity by trading in her car and signing the Bates motel register with the name Marie Samuels.

»Hitch« is our graduation project at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover. It’s about »The Ultimate Hitch Cookbook«, an animated book containing the recipes for Alfred Hitchcock’s classics. It’s made for Hitchcock enthusiasts and every other couch potato out there.

Creative agency Marcel made some amazing ads for France 24 that are inspired by that classic movie. But instead of using black crows, they’ve used birds that were inspired by Twitter. “We all know the role of social networks and Internet in spreading revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya,” Marcel says. “Social networks are now an essential source of information. “France 24 and its agency Marcel have decided to highlight the link between freedom of information and freedom of expression on the Internet.”
Notice what is says on the Gadhafi ad: “When you leave only crumbs for your people you end up attracting birds.”

There are photos of the already portly and double-chinned young man of the 1920s, at the time of his marriage to screenwriter and film editor Alma Reville, and a famous 1962 photo by Philippe Halsman of Alma standing at the door of an open refrigerator with Hitchcock’s severed head on a shelf.

Alfred Hitchcocks „The Birds“: Meta-Soundtrack-Hörspiel
Andreas Ammer und Console (von The Notwist) haben ein Hörspiel nach Alfred Hitchcocks „The Birds“ produziert, Thomas schreibt auf seinem Filmtagebuch: „Gestern Nacht lief auf dem WDR die Hörspielkomposition Die Vögel von Andreas Ammer und Console, die dafür in Zusammenarbeit mit dem “Deutschen Museum” aus einem Fundus von 1800 analogen Tonaufnahmen von Oskar Salas Mixtur-Trautonium schöpften. Das obskure Instrument diente bekanntlich Alfred Hitchcock für die Geräuschkulisse von Die Vögel. Mit Oskar Sala starb zugleich die letzte Person, die es bedienen konnte.“
Sala würde am 18. Juli 100 Jahre alt. Mit ihm starb zwar der letzte Mensch, der diese elektronischen Urklangerzeuger bedienen konnte, im Deutschen Museum lagern jedoch gut 1.800 analoge Tonbänder seiner Klänge, aus denen Andreas Ammer und Console nun digital Hitchcocks Grusel-Klassiker “The Birds” als Hörspiel zusammenbauen, als ob es den Film nie gegeben hätte.
Andreas Ammer, Journalist und freier Autor für Hörfunk und Fernsehen, produzierte zahlreiche preisgekrönte Hörspiele. Zweimal erhielt er den Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden. Martin Gretschmann alias Console, geboren 1973, ist Musiker aus Weilheim, u.a. Bandmitglied bei “The Notwist”.
