DIY Hover-Bike
Bis dieser Prototyp eines Hover-Bikes von Chris Malloy wirklich abheben kann, dauert es wahrscheinlich noch ein bisschen, aber ich freue mich jetzt schon auf eine Tour durch die Wälder von Endor.
With a 1170 cc 4-stroke engine delivering 80 kW driving two ducted propellers, the inventor of the Hoverbike, Chris Malloy, says with its high thrust to weight ratio, the Hoverbike should be able to reach an estimated height of more than 10,000 feet and reach an indicated airspeed of 150 knots (278 km/h or 173 mph). At the moment these are only theoretical figures as the Hoverbike hasn’t been put through its paces yet, but Malloy has constructed a prototype Hoverbike and plans to conduct real world flight tests in a couple of months.

Das hier ist ein Hovercraft-Bike-Mashup aus den 60ern. Wenn man es schwarz anmalt, geht es auch als Batmobile-Hovercraft-Bike-Mashup durch und my hovercraft is definitely full of eels.

Uh, jetzt bin ich aber sehr am überlegen, was mein Lieblings-Newschool-Fortbewegungsdings 2008 ist: Dieses selbstbalancierende Einrad, das ich heute auf Spreeblick gepostet habe, oder dieses Mini-Hovercraft, das aussieht, wie ein UFO-Skateboard-Mashup. Ultimativ wäre das hier selbstverständlich, wenn es von Aalen angetrieben würde, damit ich auf einem UFO skatend endlich mal wahrheitsgemäß sagen könnte: „My Hovercraft is full of eels!“

The hovercraft will be 50 years old next year. Like supersonic, interplanetary and deep sea travel, the demise of the world’s largest hovercraft the SR-N4, joined Concorde, the Saturn V and the Trieste as examples of technological retreat.
The SR-N4, which was operated by two companies, for many years, to transport people across the English Channel, could carry over 30 vehicles and 250 people. What made these hovercraft particularly unusual is that they represented an example of a design where the civilian versions were more extraordinary than those used by the military, which are still smaller, even today.
