YAY! Graham Linehan hat auf der Republica bekanntgegeben, dass er die beste Serie aller Zeiten – natürlich IT Crowd! – nochmal für ein TV-Special zurückbringen wird. Wahrscheinlich das wichtigste Info-Bit von der Republica überhaupt und es ist natürlich bezeichnend fürs deutsche Netz, dass ich (weil ich die Session verpasst habe) diese Meldung in einem englischen Blog lesen muss. Egal, IT Crowd kommt nochmal, yay! Und hoffentlich gibt’s Auftritte von Denholm und Richmond!
Series creator and writer of the Channel 4 sitcom set in a company’s IT department, Graham Linehan just announced during an IT Crowd Q&A at German conference re:publica that the long-teased special, which he has previously stated will serve as the finale to the series, will be filmed in three weeks’ time.
The script for the forty-minute special was written over a year ago, but the actors, including Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Chris O’Dowd and Matt Berry, have been too busy with other filming commitments – and in one case a pregnancy – to work on it until now.

The next series of the IT Crowd will probably be the last, writer Graham Linehan has revealed.
Linehan, who is also working on a TV project with Radio 4 favourite Count Arthur Strong, says he topes to write the fifth series of the Channel 4 sitcom this year, but then intends to call it a day.
‘I think one more series to really say goodbye to the characters and the fans,’ he told Chortle. ‘I’m not rushing into it because I don’t want it to be a zombie series where the show is dead but its body is still moving around.’

Last week, I spread a story on Twitter that in some of the videos seized from his compound during the Navy SEALS raid, Osama Bin Laden was watching my sitcom ‘The IT Crowd’. I did it to illustrate the lightning speed at which a rumour can circulate and mutate on Twitter.
Only joking! I did it because I thought it would be funny, but it did circulate and mutate really quickly so maybe there’s a good lesson for us here. I mean really, it’s scary what Twitter can do. You can’t get more offline than my mother, and even she said to my brother, the day after the story ‘broke’, “did you hear about your brother and Osama?”
So! It appears that one good way of starting a rumour is to pretend that the story is already circulating.

Poll: IT Crowd vs The Big Bang Theory (UPDATE)
[update] Ich hatte heute morgen noch keinen Kaffee und die falsche Umfrage unten angehängt… deshalb bitte nochmal abstimmen. Danke!
Ich habe in den letzten zwei Tagen alle Folgen von The Big Bang Theory am Stück hintereinander angesehen. Ich kannte die Serie (natürlich!) bereits vorher, hatte sie aber immer eher nebenher gesehen und nun habe ich so ein bisschen ein Problem. Denn sie macht Moss, Roy und Jen von der IT Crowd extreme Konkurrenz.
Selbstverständlich: IT Crowd hat den First Mover-Bonus und sie ist mir mit ihren Internet-Witzen auch etwas näher – scheinbar! Denn: Spocks Body with Mr.Ts Head? Signierte Hulk-Hände? Der ständig stattfindende Comic-Nerdism? Und wie witzig ist es denn bitte, Sheldon beim Radiointerview Helium in den Lüftungsschacht zu pumpen, woraufhin das Interview etwas hochgepitcht ausfällt? Eben. Und mein Lieblingszitat: „It’s a warm summer evening in ancient Greece…“ BAZINGA!
Gut, Staffel 2 erscheint mir am besten, in der ersten hatten sie noch geübt (nicht ohne da schon grandios zu sein) und die dritte Staffel erscheint mir zu Beginn etwas zu albern… Dr. Dr. Sheldon Lee Coopern mit unkontrollierten Bazinga-Anfällen in einem Kinderdingsbums? Dr. Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper im Knast? Das erscheint mir zutiefst irrational und widerspricht den Gesetzen der Physik. Andererseits hat IT Crowd nach der ersten Staffel mit Denholm Reynholm und Richmond Avenal zwei ihrer besten Charaktere gekickt. Wie auch immer: Ich kann mich nicht entscheiden, deshalb frage ich euch:

Channel4 zeigt die erste Folge („Jen the Fredo“) der vierten IT Crowd-Staffel vorab im Internet. Ist bei uns selbstverständlich geogeblockt, Fuckheads! Aber das Ding ist natürlich schon da draußen, einfach mal nach „The.IT.Crowd.S04E01.WS.4oD.XViD-COWARD.avi“ googeln.
Die neue Staffel geht mit Dungeons & Dragons, sprechenden Vaginas und Roys gebrochenen Herzen schonmal gut los, bei dem Witz mit Herr der Ringe und dem Paten musste ich sehr laut lachen und bis euer Download von dem Ding fertig ist, hier ein junger Mann, der die Stimmen aus der Serie täuschen echt nachmacht und das IT Crowd-Theme als C64-Chiptunes-Cover.

IT Crowd Staffel 4 kommt im Juni
Das schönste an der Slashdot-Meldung zu den Retro-Computern in der nächsten IT Crowd-Staffel steht dort ja leider etwas versteckt: „According to the IMDB’s message board, it should be on the air ‘Juneish.’“ Das Posting im IMDB-Forum bezieht sich auf einen Tweet (den ich allerdings nicht gefunden habe, ist aber auch zu lange her) von Graham Linehan (Regisseur der Serie), womit das also korrekt sein dürfte – außerdem hat er vor kurzem erst gebloggt, dass die Arbeiten an der neuen Staffel abgeschlossen sind.
Kurz gesagt: Nächsten Monat gibt’s wieder Buckets full of Chicken that come in actual Buckets! Whooooohoo! Es gibt keine bessere Meldung für einen fantastischen Start in die Woche!
