Typing E-Mails using a Guitar
E-Mails per Gitarre schreddern, die Noten werden in Keyboard-Signale umgesetzt. Mir fehlt da ja ein bisschen die Leoparden-Spandex zur Flying-V, aber der Schnurri gleicht das ja auch wieder aus.
WK recently allowed me some time to tackle a problem that plagues workers everywhere whether they are working in advertising or some other job that involves a lot of email typing. I’m talking about the problem of not being able to devote enough time practicing shredding the guitar.
The solution of hooking a guitar up so that you could use it like a computer keyboard had been in my head for a few years and it was a real joy to get to follow through on it.

Chinese Spacebar-Thief
Ein junger Mann hat in den letzten sieben Jahren haufenweise Space-Tasten aus einem Internet-Café mitgehen lassen. Da er jetzt mit einer ausgeglichenen Karma-Bilanz heiraten will, hat er sie alle wieder zurückgebracht. Dann wird ja alles gut. Von Kotaku:
Over the last few a days a story about a Chinese man returning stolen spacebar keys to an internet cafe has captured the attention China’s online gaming message boards. The story is exactly what it sounds like: a Chinese man stole spacebar keys from his local internet cafe seven years ago and out of the blue he decided to return them to the internet cafe.
So why did the guysteal the keys in the first place? According to The People’s Daily, the Chinese government mouth piece, the guy stole the keys because he was upset with the noise that they created when people were playing the online rhythm game Audition Dance Battle Online.
Pissed at the noise that was created by players bashing on their keyboards, the guy decided to do something about it: he removed the spacebar keys off the keyboards of every computer in the net cafe.

Growing Kresse in your Keyboard
Ich bin der 200%igen Überzeugung, dass ich vor sieben Jahren als eins der ersten Postings hier auf Nerdcore schonmal ein dreckiges Keyboard mit Kressbewuchs gepostet hatte, allein: Ich finde es nicht. Und da mein Keyboard derzeit mal wieder fast genauso aussieht (minus the Kresse) und weil ich kann: Redditor Clit_Commander hat in der dreckigen Tastatur eines Kollegen Kresse angebaut: My collegue had a filthy keyboard and has gone to vacation, I did the only logic thing: I planted cress in the keyboard, hier das Imgur-Album. Vintage USB-Typewriters
Im Juni hatte ich über den USB-Typewriter gebloggt, mittlerweile gibt es für das Ding eine Anleitung zum Selberbauen und in ihrem Etsy-Shop verkaufen sie total tolle olle Schreibmaschinen als schicke USB-Tastaturen. Müsste man sich eigentlich zulegen, wenn die Dinger nicht noch unpraktikabler als die interne iPad-Tastatur und so teuer wären. (via Unplggd)
Klickedicklack-Simulatoren
Gestern hatte ich auf Twitter schon diesen Simulator eines IBM Model M Keyboards verlinkt, jetzt gibt’s noch diesen Idle Keyboard Simulator: Ein einfacher Loop einer Tastaturarbeiters. Einfach in einem Tab öffnen, Lautstärke anpassen und den ganzen Tag Nerdcore rauf- und runtersurfen, ohne dass der Chef den leisesten Verdacht schöpft. (via MeFi)
Ergonomic Steampunk Keyboard
Das allseits bekannte Steampunk Keyboard wird ergonomisch so dass Jules Verne demnächst nie wieder an Mausarm oder Rückgratverkrümmung leiden muss.
This keyboard was commissioned by a female client and has some elegant, feminine design features such as violet LEDs, an acanthus-leaf pattern etched into the brass, and a soft burgundy wrist pad that is removable for cleaning.
It also has a built-in “buttonless” touchpad mouse in the center (tap anywhere to left-click and drag, tap in the top-right corner to right-click). This keyboard is interesting because the typing plane is actually tipped forward rather than back. It looks odd at first, but actually makes for a very comfortable typing position.
Caps Lock-Trainer-Keyboard
Letzte Woche war Caps Lock-Day, den ich selbstverständlich mit keiner Silbe erwähnt habe und den Offtopic-Honk, der hier in den Comments aufgeschlagen ist, habe ich auch gelöscht, denn: Caps Lock ist das pure, reine Böse. Jeder, der mit Großbuchstaben schreibt, disqualifiziert sich per se, der massive Einsatz von Großbuchstaben ist nicht nur einhundertmal schwerer zu lesen, sondern ist das Online-Äquivalent zum Schreien, und ich hab’s nicht gerne, wenn rumgeschrien wird. Großbuchstabenexzesse gehen meistens Hand in Hand mit dem Einsatz von mehr als einem Ausrufe- oder Fragezeichen, was mich zusammenfassen lässt: Leute die ausschließlich in Großbuchstaben schreiben und mehr als ein Satzzeichen benutzen, sind zu 99% Trolle und die haben sicher alles, aber keinen Caps Lock-Day verdient.
Und deshalb ist Sean Ragans Caps Lock-Trainer-Keyboard quasi eine Anti-Troll-Tastatur. Yeah!
Does someone you know have a shouting problem? If so then this handy trainer key makes the perfect gift. A standard 101-pattern caps lock key has had its lettering removed by wiping with a paper towel soaked in acetone, and has been augmented with two fourteen-gauge 10mm lebret spikes from the body jeweler’s, which are threaded into appropriately sized holes drilled in the key with a pin vise, and then secured with epoxy. Optimus Maximus Keyboard has arrived
As you should know by now this amazing keyboard features a tiny screen on each key… that’s 113 screens in all. What can you do with these tiny screens you ask? Well each key can change it’s image dynamically depending on what you doing.
Hold down SHIFT and all keys go uppercase. Run Photoshop and you can set it so each hotkey has an image representing it’s function. Set a key to monitor your CPU usage or display what iTunes track you are currently playing. You can make a key into a tiny clock with moving hands and play animated gif files or even quicktime movies.
