Dissected Lego Basket Shooter Machine
Transformers-Gameboy made from Lego

Behold: Domaster & Tetrawing — heroic Nintendobots! Transforming from Game Boy system & Tetris game to robot & bird, and back!
The name Domaster is an amalgamation of “Dot Matrix with Stereo Sound”, the blurb written above the screens of old Game Boys. The name Tetrawing was coined by New York burlesque girl Dangrr Doll (@dangrrr_doll on Twitter) who does a nerdy Tetris-themed routine with D20 Burlesque!
Lego Space Shuttle in Space
The launch took place from central Germany (easy flight clearance) and reached a max altitude of 35000m. A 1600g meteo balloon filled with helium was used alongside a GoPro Hero, Spot GPS and of course Lego Space Shuttle model 3367.“
Turtle-Bot Assembly-Kit made from Lego

(via Brothers Brick)

Lego-Donut, Lord of the Rings, Shaun of the Dead and the Sandman

9469 Gandalf Arrives – Gandalf & Frodo
9470 Shelob Attacks – Samwise, Frodo & Gollum
9471 Uruk-hai Army – 4 x Uruk-hai, 1 x Rohirrim Soldier, 1 x Rider Of Rohan
9472 Attack On Weathertop – Merry, Frodo, Aragon & 2 x Nazgul
9473 The Mines Of Moria – Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, 2 x Goblins, 2 x Skeletons & Cave Troll
9474 The Battle Of Helm’s Deep – Aragon, Gimli, Legolas, Theoden, 5 x Uruk-hai

Large Hadron Colliders Atlas built in Lego

Sascha Mehlhase vom Niels-Bohr-Institut der Uni Kopenhagen hat den Teilchendetektor ATLAS am LHC in Lego nachgebaut.
It illustrates all details, from the muon and magnet system to the innermost pixel detector and will hopefully be a great eye-catcher for all generations. Here’s some key features:
- about 9500 pieces
- roughly 1:50 in scale (close to scale with the LEGO® man)
- material cost of about 2000 Euros (payed by the high energy physics group at the Niels Bohr Institute)
- about 1 m x 0.5 m x 0.5 m in size
- approximately 33 hours construction time (spread out over several weekends and after hours)
- around 48 hours to build the 3D model (a one-timer though)

Artist Michael Rakowitz on How His Saddam Hussein Dinner Party Became an International Incident | Artinfo: When a dinner of venison topped with date and tahini sauce was served on plates taken from Saddam Husseins private collection at Park Avenue Autumn for Iraqi-American artist Michael Rakowitzs project „Spoils“, the assorted art-world diners didn’t bat an eye – but now New York Citys Iraqi mission has, turning Rakowitzs piece into an international incident. The controversy, exploding on the eve of the U.S.s supposed withdrawal from Iraq, has had reverberations touching the artist, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and president Obama himself. As Iraqi artifacts, the plates have been confiscated by the Iraqi mission after a cease-and-desist letter was sent to the restaurant, and were presented by Obama to the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

Filmmaker: The story of Bradley Manning, not as a Wikileaks ‘hacktivist’, but as a young American soldier simultaneously going through a crisis-of-conscious and a crisis-of-identity. Animated in a rotoscoped pixel-art style and using dialogue from Bradley’s online conversations, the film explores issues of personal and political secrets, digital identity and alienation.

Mozilla Reinvents Web Video With Popcorn 1.0 | Webmonkey | Wired.com: Popcorn is simply a JavaScript library that aims to simplify the process of adding external data culled from around the web to your video. To give an idea of what’s possible with Popcorn, Mozilla is showcasing the movie One Millionth Tower, a documentary film about an apartment building and how residents imagine the future. One Millionth Tower premiered online last weekend at Wired.com. If you haven’t seen it yet, head over to the Underwire blog.
One Millionth Tower uses some tricks beyond Popcorn (like WebGL for some 3D elements), but most of its coolest effects — like the way the environment in the film changes based on the real-time weather conditions and time of day at the Toronto high-rises where the documentary was filmed — are all courtesy of Popcorn.
If it happens to be snowing in Toronto when you watch the film, it will begin snowing in the virtual world of One Millionth Tower.
Official Lord of the Rings-Lego!:

Lego Mindstorms Digital-Clock
(Youtube Direkttime, via Make)
Sehr schöne Digitaluhr von Hans Andersson aus Lego Mindstorms.
Time Twister consists of two LEGO Mindstorms bricks communicating via Bluetooth. The master brick keeps track of the time and handles the minute digits. The slave brick handles the hour digits and the second indicator. Each digit is made up of five layers with black and white tiles layed out in different patterns. Each layer can rotate 360 degrees before it hooks to the next layer. By twisting the top layer back and forth in a specific pattern, you can arrange the layers so that the desired digit is displayed.

Mike Doyles Abandoned Lego-Houses

5.5′ x 6′ x 3′
110k – 130k pieces
Black, white, dark and bluish gray, clear trans and black trans colors used.
No foreign materials (wood, glue, paint or otherwise) were used – this is pure Lego.
Photo retouching used only for adding contrast and color correction & background.
Approx 600 hours to build […]The third installment of this abandoned house series continues its textural exploration of decay with a Victorian home engulfed in mud. The mud travels through the first floor, tears down a front wall and oozes over the porch side, taking with it household contents of convenience. This detail opens the piece up, allowing the eye to travel the surface of the house and then back through the porch, into a room and back out to survey the piles of garbage. The play on depth here is something I enjoy as one has a glimpse of the activity behind this architectural scrim.

JP Morgan explains the Euro Crisis with Lego

To examine the various factions, I consulted Peter Cembalest, who specializes in conceptualization of such phenomena. Peter (age 9) uses Lego Minifigures as a medium, and assisted me with the diorama on the next page.
- The toreador in a floppy hat, and the F1 driver with his helmet, represent Spain, Italy and the rest of the Euro Periphery.
- The three men with helmets, shields, and medieval weaponry represent the CDU, CSU and FDP parties in Germany.
- The blue-and-white sailor boy is Finland. Obvs.
- The woman with an oversized carrot and her friend in overalls with a shovel represent the Social Democrats and Greens.
- Wotan represents the Bundesbank.
- The piggy bank is the IMF.
- The grey-haired Banque chap is the ECB.
- The chap in the red bib is Poland.
- The artists are France.
- The angry chef, the sweeper with a broom, the airline pilot, and the rest of the motley crew at bottom left, represent EU taxpayers in Core countries.
- The storm troopers are the EU Commission and Euro Group Finance Ministers, chaired by Jose Manuel Barroso and Jean- Claude Juncker.
- The monocled banker and his assistant are EU bondholders and shareholders.
