Thor – The Dark World – Trailer
Hübscher Trailer für den zweiten Thor. Ich mochte den ersten Teil ja mit Abstrichen ganz gerne, mir hat zwar nicht so ganz gepasst, dass sie die komplette Donald Blake-Origin-Story weggelassen haben – offensichtlich war ein transformierender Doktor (nämlich Bruce „Hulk“ Banner) genug – und Asgard war im Film leider äußerst tot und leer, im Gegensatz zum Comic, aber insgesamt war der Film mehr als okay und in der Reihe der Marvel-Verfilmungen durchaus stimmig.
Überhaupt finde ich, dass Marvel mit seinen selbst produzierten Verfilmungen bislang sehr viel richtig macht, bin sehr gespannt auf ihre Phase 2-Filme, vor allen Dingen auf „Ant-Man“. Weil Hank Pym is the shit.

Marvel verschenken heute und morgen 700 Comics für lau – sofern man auf den Server von Comixology oder den Onlinestore von Marvel draufkommt, die sind nämlich seit Stunden bereits überlastet – weshalb Marvel das Angebot wahrscheinlich verlängern wird. Das ganze ist ein Promodings für ihren #1-Relaunch:

Disney confirms Star Wars-Spinoffs
Disney CEO Bob Iger hat heute in einem Interview mit MSNBC bestätigt, dass man neben einer neuen Star Wars-Trilogie auch an Spinoffs zu verschiedenen Charakteren arbeitet: „I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films, Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. We still plan to make Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period, too.“
Noch dazu ging ein Gerücht rum, dass der erste Film ein Yoda-Film sei, was von AICN ins Netz gepupst und von allen weitergegeben wurde. Und mal abgesehen davon, dass dieses Gerücht nicht im geringsten substantiell begründet ist: Das ergibt Sinn. Die neue Trilogie spielt nach „Return of the Jedi“, Yoda könnte also in den neuen Filmen höchstens als Machtgeist auftreten, mit einem Yoda-Spinoff würde man also die Fans von kleinen grünen Jedi-Fröschen zusätzlich abholen. Noch mehr Sinn ergäbe allerdings ein Boba Fett-Spinoff, aus den genau gleichen Gründen.
Wie auch immer: Die Strategie von Disney bezüglich des Star Wars-Universums zeichnet sich ziemlich klar ab – und es ist die selbe wie beim Marvel-Universum, das auf der Comic-Seite von Disney weitgehend in Ruhe gelassen wurde, filmisch aber seit der Übernahme im Jahr 2009 sehr viel fokussierter und Franchise-orientierter umgesetzt wird. Avengers = Star Wars, Iron Man = Boba Fett, Hulk = Yoda, etc. Wenn die Disney-Star Wars-Filme insgesamt die gleiche Blockbuster-Qualitäten aufweisen, wie die Filme von Marvel seit der Übernahme, bin ich nach wie vor optimistisch.
Happy 90th, Stan Lee!
Stan Lee (geboren 1922 als Stanley Martin Lieber) wird heute 90 Jahre alt, herzlichen Glückwunsch!
1939 fing Stan Lee als Teenager mit 17 bei Timely Publications, dem Vorläufer von Marvel Comics, als Assistent an und sorgte dafür, dass die Tintenfässer der Zeichner nicht leer wurden und brachte ihnen Kaffee und solche Sachen. Schnell arbeitete er sich zum Texter hoch und wurde nur zwei Jahre später, als Jack Kirby und Joe Simon den Verlag verließen, zum Chefredakteur der Comic-Sparte.
In den späten Fünfzigern erschuf er dann zusammen mit Kirby, der wieder als Freelancer für den nun Atlas Comics heissenden Verlag arbeitete, die Fantastic Four. Dann den Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, die X-Men, Daredevil, zusammen mit Steve Ditko dann Doctor Strange und schließlich Spider-Man. Rest is history. Excelsior!

X-Posting von den Filmfreunden: Hier das erste Poster und der erste Trailer zu Iron Man 3 mit Ben Kingsley als Mandarin. Ich bin da ganz entspannt, dürfte ganz großes Superheldenkino werden.

Sean Howe tumblrt grade ein paar Previews aus seinem kommenden Buch „Marvel Comics: The Untold Story“, ein „unvarnished, unauthorized, behind-the-scenes account of one of the most dominant pop cultural forces in contemporary America.“ Unter diesen Previews: Dieses Bild von Stan Lee, der nackt auf einer Couch für ein Marvel Special von 1983 posiert. Nach dem Fotoshooting hat er’s sich anders überlegt und über den nackten Alabasterkörper wurde ein Hulk-Kostüm montiert.
When Stan Lee visited New York in January 1983, the editorial staff was at the peak of its yuk-yuk, hand-buzzer giddiness. They’d been shooting photos of each other in superhero costumes for some of the covers—several staff members appeared on the cover of the last issue of SPIDER-WOMAN—and now they were putting together a comic that consisted wholly of photos of intra-office hijinks. They wanted to include Stan the Man. Lee, the original ringmaster, jumped at the chance to pose for a nude centerfold. Marvel staffers photographed Lee with an oversize comic book covering his private parts; soon after, they received a call from his assistant in L.A. “Stan is wild,” said the assistant. “He should not have been naked for your centerfold. Please. Don’t.” (A Hulk costume was later superimposed over Lee’s body in postproduction.)

Marvel Comics as Pulp Novels
Schöne Mashups aus Marvel-Helden und den Covern alter Pulp Romane von John Morris (via Superpunch). Die Wespe fand ich dann auch noch sehr passend, wo sie grade endlich Edgar Wrights Hank Pym-Film angekündigt haben.
I assigned each character to a dream team pulp writer whom I thought matched the essence of the character. Donald Hamilton was best-known for his Matt Helm series of spy novels, which I thought made him an appealing choice for the Natasha Romanova “series”. Leslie Charteris was, of course, creator of the suave and witty Saint series of novels, so I gave him rein over the socialite adventurer Janet van Dyne and her scientist husband (Also, I thought Dashiell Hammett would have been a little on-the-nose), and Hoke Moseley creator Charles Willeford is assigned to craft the seedy, unsentimental world of Luke Cage, Hero for Hire.

First Spiderman-Fanfilm online

Youtube-User Fudgebudger hat den ersten Spiderman-Fanfilm von 1969 bei Youtube hochgeladen. Gespielt und produziert wurde er von Don Glut, der danach Drehbuchautor für Transformers, Duck Tales, Tarzan und G.I.Joe und erfand ein paar Charaktere für die Masters of the Universe-Actionfiguren.
The first ever documented Spider-Man fan film, and the first (unofficial) live action appearance of Spider-Man from 1969! This was produced by Donald F. Glut and was his last amateur film (he had produced many other Marvel fan films before this) before moving on to write for classic cartoons like Transformers and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
I love the costume (Don Glut is wearing the red and blues himself), it looks heavily inspired by Steve Ditko’s work. And notice the use of the Captain Action Spider-Man figure for web swinging and wall crawling; that goes for huge bucks now. The villain in this fan film, Dr. Lightning, is not a real Marvel character and was just created by the guy’s making the film.

Die Doku „In Search of Steve Ditko“ feat. Interviews mit Stan Lee, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman oder Mark Millar hatte ich vor fünf Jahren schonmal gepostet, aber die Videos von damals sind offline und die Doku ist nach wie vor sehr sehenswert, in diesem Sinne:
The programme featured interviews with comics creators, editors and others including Jerry Robinson, John Romita Sr., Neil Gaiman, Joe Quesada, Ralph Macchio, Flo Steinberg, Alan Moore, Mark Millar, Stan Lee, and Cat Yronwode. Ross, accompanied by Gaiman, met Steve Ditko at his New York office but he declined to be photographed or interviewed for the show. He did however give the two a selection of some of his old comic books. At the end of the show Ross said he has since spoken to Ditko on the telephone and was now on first name terms with him.
Comics historian Peter Sanderson said of the documentary: „A knowledgeable comics aficionado, Ross infuses the documentary with his passion for Ditko and American Silver Age comics. The show has an amazing roster of interviewees … Wittily and intelligently written, without a trace of condescension towards comics, this program is a model of what documentaries about comics should be like.“
Jack Kirby Fashion
Zur australischen Fashion Week haben die Designer von Romance Was Born ein paar Marvel-Klamotten geschneidert. Der Infotext zu den Fotos und die – wie formuliere ich das jetzt am besten? – exaltiert-affektierte Doofheit, die darin mitschwingt, hat mich grade ein bisschen amüsiert. Sowas kommt dabei heraus, wenn sich Fashiondings an Kirby Dots versuchen.
Collared shirtdresses and graphic tights put a contending stand for male heroes of Marvel namely Spiderman, Hulk and Avenger, and in return present a powerful and caped female crusader.
The silhouette is simple: structured shoulders, straight-cut dresses and high hemlines, but the sharp tailored peplums brought the ensemble to life. A mash up of psychedelic prints, sequined fabrics and beaded patchwork ticked all boxes for spring 2012 trends. The femme fatale vibe continued through the superhero palette: bright pinks, yellow, purple and green, it was a kaleidoscopic party of colours.
