Definitive Daft Punk-Mashup visualized
Cameron Adams hat sein Mashup „Definitive Daft Punk“ in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und in einer Realtime-Animation visualisiert.
I decided to take my own mashup of Daft Punk’s discography – Definitive Daft Punk – and reveal its entire structure: the cutting, layering, levels and equalisation of 23 different songs. By dividing up the sound data for each song and computing its appearance in realtime, the resulting visualisation gives you an understanding of the unique anatomy of this particular mashup.
The entire piece is composed from the latest HTML5 and CSS3 technology (canvas, audio, transforms & transitions) so you’ll need a newer browser to view it in. I recommend Chrome because it pulls off the best performance with my mangled code. All of the waveform and spectrum visualisation is performed in realtime, so your browser is rendering a music video on the fly!

Girl Walk All Day: Improdance-Videoprojekt für Girl Talks „All Day“

Schönes Projekt vom Cargo Collective: Girl Walk All Day. Improvisationstänzer springen durch Amerika zur Musik vom letzten Girl Talk Album „All Day“, das ganze ergibt ein großes Musikvideo auf Albumlänger. Oben der erste Teil zu den Tracks „Let it Out“ (2) und dem Anfang von „That’s right“ (3). Warum da nun der erste Track („Oh No“) fehlt, weiß ich nicht. Wird aber schon richtig sein, irgendwie.
We’ve set out to combine the amazing talents of improvisational dancer Anne Marsen (and a supporting cast of contemporary dancers) with the epic new Girl Talk album, All Day, creating an album-length music video of grand proportions. We’ll continue shooting through the spring of 2011, then plan to screen the piece, in full, in public, as well as make it fully available for free online.

A Short History of Literature-Mashups
Björn Grau hat einen schönen Artikel für das Architekturmagazin urban spacemag und sein Thema Copy & Paste und dafür eine kurze Geschichte der Mashups in der Literatur geschrieben.
Umberto Eco ist nicht nur ein großer Theoretiker dieser intertextuellen Vernetzung von Texten, er lebt sie als Schriftsteller auch exzessiv aus. Sein „Der Name der Rose“, in dem unter anderem ein Bibliothekar namens Jorge von Burgos mitspielt, ist zu großen Teilen zusammenkopiert. In den investigativen Unterhaltungen des William von Baskerville (selbst eine Anspielung auf Sherlock Holmes und den Hund aus dem gleichnamigen Ort sowie den mittelalterlichen Philosophen William von Ockham) sind abschnittweise Texte der mittelalterlichen Scholastik eingeflossen und dann mit Zitaten von moderneren Philosophen wie Wittgenstein gewürzt. Explizit gemacht wird das nicht. Die Leser finden diese Dinge nur, wenn sie sie vorher schon kannten.

[update] Mit ein bisschen Internet-Magic (Danke Earl!) habe ich den Mix jetzt endlich runtergeladen und bei Soundcloud geuppt, hier der Downloadlink. Und das Ding ist wirklich ein ziemlicher Abschuß, genau was ich heute gebraucht hatte.
Gregg Gillis aka Girl Talk hat grade ein neues Album für lau online gestellt. Die Downloads dort funktionieren bei mir grade nicht, schneller dürfte es mit diesem Torrent funktionieren (Pirate Bay sagt mir zwar, es gäbe keine Seeder, stimmt aber nicht, mein Download ist fertig und ich seede zusammen mit bis jetzt 155 weiteren tollen Leuten). Das Torrent beinhaltet allerdings die Einzeltrack-Version, das Album ist allerdings als Mix gedacht. Sobald ich den habe, stelle ich ihn auf Soundcloud online. (Update siehe oben)
Einen Stream der Tracks gibt’s auf Myspace und auf Wikipedia werden die Samples gesammelt. Ich hab’s noch nicht wirklich gehört, aber der erste Track, der grade im Hintergrund läuft, ist schonmal sehr, sehr groß. Und ich dachte vorhin noch so: Wann kommt eigentlich mal wieder ein wirklich gutes Mashup-Album? (via Testspiel)

Die Videotones hauen gleich drei neue Musikvideos zum letzten Album „Uptime/Downtime“ der Über-Masher The Kleptones raus, oben das eigentlich dritte in der Reihe zu „Seed Of Idumea“, das Vocals von Antony Hegarty (Antony & The Johnsons) über einen Seeds-Track legt. Zeige ich trotzdem zuerst, weil ich mir tatsächlich gestern erst mal wieder den tollen Film „Harold & Maude“ angesehen habe, der im Clip ziemlich oft auftaucht, neben der Tod-Szene aus Monty Pythons „Meaning of Life“, die ich tatsächlich immer noch auswendig kann. Kommen Sie wegen der Hecke? Tut mir leid, aber Bier haben wir nicht.

Doc Savage Monster Mashup-Cover
Keith „Kez“ Wilson masht die Cover der Pulp Serie „Doc Savage“ mit den klassischen Monstern der Universal Studios, Godzillas Blobs, Aliens oder mutierten Riesenvögeln.
A while back I had the idea of creating a few mock Doc Savage covers featuring the Man of Bronze in adventures with other iconic horror, fantasy and sci-fi characters. Recently I’ve had a little extra time on my hands, so gathering my copies of the Bantam Doc paperbacks with the wonderful cover art by James Bama, illustrator extraordinaire, (yes, my set is complete, thank you) and other images I lovingly created the pastiches you see below.
