The 3Doodle pen, developed by US start-up WobbleWorks, works much like a handheld 3D printer. It contains a mains-powered heater that melts the plastic beads used in such printers.
You can draw normally using the colourful plastic as your ink – but with a fantastic twist. Lift the nib in the air and a length of plastic exudes from the nib and solidifies, allowing you to create 3D objects by building up multiple wispy strands of plastic. The pen’s key component is a tiny fan that cools the plastic as it leaves the nib. “This makes it solidify very quickly,” says company spokesman Daniel Cowen.

Vor ein paar Wochen hatte ich einen Bleistiftspitzer in Form eines Aufziehschlüssels, wie man sie damals (und heute) bei Blechroboter-Toys benutzt hat. Dieser Flügelschraubenbleistiftspitzer hier macht praktisch dasselbe. Der Bleistiftspitzer für DIY-Nerds im Gegensatz zum Bleistiftspitzer für Blechrobotertoy-Nerds, wobei es da natürlich Schnittmengen gibt.

Großartig und WANT: Ein Mäppchen in Form von toten, ausgenommenen Makrelen. Leider ohne Fischgeruch, aber den kriegt man mit ein bisschen Autosuggestion auch hin.

Reverse Graffiti Marker
Ein Marker von Suck.uk den man mit Seifenwasser befüllt um Drecksflächen zu taggen. Die Idee basiert auf Alexandre Orions fünf Jahre altem Reverse Graffiti, der hatte damals mit nem Reiniger Skulls in von Autoabgasen vollgesifften Tunnels gemalt und wurde für die Säuberungsaktion prompt von der Polizei angehalten, hier das Video von damals. Der Marker ist natürlich nur ein relativ flacher Abklatsch der Aktion, aber die Idee ist nach wie vor so super, dass sogar der Abklatsch davon ein bisschen was kann.

Pencil Nunchakus
Dalton M. Ghettis Miniatur-Schnitzereien auf Bleistiftspitzen fand ich bis jetzt immer nur so mittelnett, aber diese Bleistift-„Nunchakus“ sind super! Er nennt das Ding zwar „Chain“ und hätte für ‘nen „richtigen“ Nunchaku auch die beiden Spitzen aneinanderketten müssen und hatte wahrscheinlich irgendwas anderes als ein Nunchaku im Sinn, is’ mir aber wurscht. Das hier ist ein Bleistifft-Nunchaku. Awesome! So. (via Neatorama)

Aufziehschlüsselspitzer
I love this! Ein Bleistiftspitzer in Form eines Aufziehschlüssels, wie man sie früher bei alten Roboter-Blecktoys benutzt hat. Ich hab’ hier tatsächlich einige Replikas alter 50s-Robot-Toys rumstehen, die genau mit so ‘nem Schlüssel funktionieren. Bleistifte können die aber nicht anspitzen. Toll!

Ein Kuli Filzstift hat 25 Jahre im Bauch einer Dame rumgelegen, nachdem sie ihn während eines Sturzes verschluckt hatte. Jetzt wurde er entfernt und der Filzer hatte massives Glück: Er funktioniert noch. Wahrscheinlich schreibt er jetzt mit Magensäure statt Tinte, aber damit dürfte der Stift klarkommen, denke ich.

It was subsequently removed in a combined endoscopic and ear, nose and throat procedure under general anaesthetic. The pen was still in working order.

Büro Destruct x Edding: Type for Type
Büro Destruct und Edding haben sich zusammengeworfen und haben einen Marker-Font fürs Netz rausgehauen, runterladen kann man den auf Type for Type. Das ganze ist selbstverständlich nur Werbung für die Stifte, aber erstens bin ich seit mehr als drölf Jahren Fan von Büro Destruct und zweitens bin ich noch viel länger Fan von Edding und hab’ in meinem Leben wahrscheinlich schon ein paar hundert Stück davon verbraucht. Der Font selbst ist okay, ich hab’ aber schon bessere von BD gesehen.

Actually, I think the mistrial came after he poked the new lawyer in the neck with a pencil three days later, but it’s not clear. Anyway, he poked his third lawyer with a pen yesterday, leading the judge to rule that he has now bagged his limit and will have to represent himself.

Ich bin ja mit Drawing Tablets nie zurecht gekommen, weil mir immer der Gegendruck des Papiers beim Zeichnen fehlte und da ich an Dingen schnell die Lust verliere, wenn ich nicht damit zurechtkomme, habe ich mich in den letzten Jahren auch nicht weiter damit beschäftigt. Das könnte Wacoms Inkling ändern, der fühlt sich an wie ein Kugelschreiber und malt tatsächlich auf Papier und ein kleine Station zeichnet alles auf, exportiert das Ergebnis nach Photoshop und Illustrator, inklusive Ebenen. Mit nur 200$ ist das Ding sowas von meins.
