As well as allowing them to order pizzas without actually having to speak to anyone, the new Domino’s Pizza feat. Hatsune Miku app for iPhone lets customers enjoy private performances from the singing humanoid by pointing the iPhone’s camera at special app-friendly pizza boxes.
Perhaps even better than the campaign itself, though, is the cheesy video that Domino’s launched yesterday to introduce the app, which features company president Scott Oellkers doing his best to look excited about having his photo taken with the teal-haired star. Corporate enthusiasm aplenty.

Fast hätte ich das wichtigste Jubiläum des Jahres vergessen: Heute vor 50 Jahren wurde das Patent für den Pizzakarton angemeldet (via Pandapony), die wahrscheinlich wichtigste Erfindung nach dem Feuer (aber noch vor dem Rad). In diesem Sinne: Mit Knobi und doppelt Käse.

Das erste Patent für einen Pizzakarton aus Wellpappe wurde 1963 angemeldet. Es beschreibt bereits die Grundmerkmale heutiger Pizzakartons: plane Rohlinge, Zusammenfaltbarkeit ohne Klebstoff, Stapelbarkeit und Belüftungsschlitze. Durch die Kombination von Belüftungsschlitzen mit einem Wasserdampf aufnehmenden Material (Adsorptionsmittel) ließ sich der Feuchtigkeitsstau herkömmlicher Transportverpackungen für frische Pizza vermindern.
Es wird angenommen, dass Domino’s Pizza der Erfinder des Pizzakartons war, ohne aber hierfür ein Patent angemeldet zu haben. Bei der von dieser Pizzakette bis 1988 verwendeten Pizzakartonvariante bestand keine direkte Verbindung zwischen den bei der Faltung entstehenden Ecken zwischen der vorderen Wand und den beiden Seitenwänden. Vielmehr wurden nur die an den Wandflächen angebrachten Laschen nach innen unter den Deckel gefaltet. Dieses Design ist auch als „Chicagofaltung“ bekannt. Domino’s war der erste Pizzabäcker, der Pizzakartons im großen Stil einsetzte und es verstand, durch deren Nutzung seinen Lieferbereich über das Gebiet unmittelbar um die Pizzeria herum auszudehnen. Durch die Einführung von wärmedämmenden Taschen für Pizzakartons wurde Ende der 1960er Jahre der Lieferbereich nochmals erweitert.

Die Fatboys haben im Herbst letzten Jahres ihr Debut remastert und neu aufgelegt, äußerst passend als Pizza-Vinyl in einer Pizza-Box.

Their subject matter ran that gamut from over-eating to comic book characters and girls. With their innate sense of humor they rightfully earned the title The Clown Princes of Rap. Nearly 2,000 people engaged with the post, either by opening the picture, clicking “like,” sharing it on their own pages, or posting a comment. The agency saw an opportunity. They called an aromachologist. Pizza Hut perfume was born.

- A bearded man who answered the door and periodically spat blood into a crusted Harley-Davidson coffee mug while counting out his cash.
- At least three Batmans so far, but only one who did the voice.
- A hotel room full of badass middle-aged women all dressed as Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potter films, who were also completely wasted on Jello shots. They kept encouraging me to stay and party with them.
- A furious lady who yelled at me for a solid five minutes (I kept track) all about how long it took for her delivery to get to her. She then tipped me an extra ten bucks on a six dollar order. I dunno.
- over the entire time I was driving pizzas, at least several hundred dollars worth of weed tips
- a group of stoners who spent a good twenty minutes dreamily stumbling their way through an elaborate pizza order. they called back shortly before the pizzas were due to go out, and were ecstatic to learn that they had already placed an order a short time ago. by the time i arrived at their house they had forgotten again. essentially, it was as if god himself had seen their situation and deigned to deliver pizzas to them. they were so overjoyed they all emptied their wallets at me.
