Pong in CSS
An exercise in the futile but fun“.
This is a playable version of Pong complete with working scoring system — built entirely with CSS. Not a line a Javascript to be seen.
All game logic is built using hover state and sibling selectors.

Von Jean Claudies Tumblr voller wunderschöner Retrotech, alter Game-Flyer und Vintage Electronics und sowas. (Danke Malle!)
Building Pong from Scratch

Impressive! Most impressive: Pong Reborn – Rebuilding the original arcade version of Atari’s Pong.
Here is the schematic diagram for the original arcade version of Pong, the first digital video game. Unlike other video games of the time, Pong used an all digital circuit to produce the graphics, sound and game control. There is no software or processor, just a collection of 66 discrete chips performing a single function, inter-connected to create the game we know.
To build a video game from scratch, you must first invent the universe
Global Augmented Reality Version of Pong!

A global 3D multi-user version of PONG using augmented reality to play against your friends worldwide. Look around for targets, select one and click SHOOT to play ball. Tap an incoming ball and click to BOUNCE it back.

The Story of Pong!:
Erstaunlich: Von allen möglichen Websites hat ausgerechnet Buzzfeed den besten Artikel über den Game-Klassiker überhaupt: Atari Teenage Riot: The Inside Story Of Pong And The Video Game Industry’s Big Bang: „On Nov. 29, 1972, a crude table-tennis arcade game in a garish orange cabinet was delivered to bars and pizza parlors around California, and a multi-billion-dollar industry was born. Here’s how that happened, direct from the freaks and geeks who invented a culture and paved the way for today’s tech moguls.“

Hier gibt’s eine komplette Dokumentation des Aufbaus inklusive Listings: “We built a robust Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) using single-channel electroencephalography (EEG) with an AVR microcontroller, and we were able to play Pong using our brain waves (and monitor/record our sleep).”

Schöne Animation mit toller Pong-Metapher von MK12: „Opening animation for a special Occupy Wall Street screening, curated by Zero Film Festival in NYC.“
Playing Pong with Face-Recognition
Discrimination Pong
(Youtube Direktpong, danke Thorsten!)
DISCRIMINATION PONG is an anti-discrimination Pong-game. The GameArt project features some serious defects. It visualizes discrimination/racism, makes it playable and very tangible. The player experiences discrimination/racism first-hand while trying to establish a win in this unfair variation of Pong.
The ‘not so white-paddle’ is discriminated in several aspects: from its visuals and its movements to the overall gamemechanic of the game. It is very hard for the discriminated player to win a match. Discrimination is implemented in different ways: the ‘not-so-white-paddle’ gets darker and darker. The left paddle may be slower than the right one. The ball may accelerate on the left side of the playground and become too fast to catch in time. The white paddle on the right may receive an extra ball without deserving it. And maybe worst of all, the ball never touches the right wall or paddle but loops slowly back to the left and takes on a faster pace as soon as it reaches the left side of the playground again. A very unfair game indeed! Find out what types of discrimination/racism you have to expect in DISCRIMINATION PONG.
Flash vs HTML5-Pong-Standoff
Awesome!
The Flash Vs HTML5 debate has caused much discussion over the recent months and it certainly got us thinking here at Code. We believe the two technologies are not in competition and each have their purpose, but thought it might be amusing to actually put them in direct competition.

Pong Seemed So Exciting Back in the 1970s

Watch Ralph Baer and Bill Harrison demonstrate their “brown box” video control module in 1969, two years after they invented the technology behind what eventually became Pong.
