In this instructable I will show you how to make a fully 3D printable GlaDOS from Portal (1 and 2), that is also a lamp and can be converted into a robotic arm (how much cooler does it get), With a superled in the eye (this much cooler).
This was first intended to be an instructable on how to make a fully 3d printable GlaDOS robotic arm lamp that can also move. Due to some shortage in time and other project that I need to continue on (my SLS printer) I will share everything I have thus far that works properly. When I finally figure out how to make this thing moving without all the electronics heating up to 100°C, you will be the first to know.

Machinima bringt ab 15. März ‘ne Portal-Webserie namens „Aperture R&D“ von Julian Higgins und Zack Finfrock, die vor zwei Jahren den Fallout-Fanfilm Nuka Break gedreht hatten. Soll sowas wie „The Office meets Aperture Labs“ werden, der Trailer sieht allerdings leider nicht nach etwas aus, das ich mir ansehen würde. Abwarten.
Portal/HalfLife 2-Films are coming from J.J.Abrams and Valve
Gabe Newell, fucking Fucker in charge at Valve, hat heute mit J.J.Abrams ein Panel über „Storytelling, Games and Movies“ gehalten und da haben sie am Ende grade eine kleine Bombe platzen lassen: Abrams will einen Portal- oder HalfLife-Film mit Valve drehen.
“What we are actually doing here, we are recapitulating a series of conversations going on. We reached the point that we decided to do more than talk.” Newell said. “We’re super excited about that and we also want to talk about making movies, either a Portal movie or a Half-Life movie.” Newell said. Abrams says there is a game that he’s like to make with Valve. And that’s that. JJ and Gabe leave us with the promise of a collaborative project, perhaps a movie, perhaps a video game.
Ich gehe davon aus, dass Abrams sich hier als Produzent betätigen wird (wie „schon“ bei Star Trek 3), anders wäre das bei seiner derzeitigen To-Do-Liste wohl kaum zu stemmen.

„Working“ Portal Gun
Die Jungs von Hackaday haben sich aus einem dieser schwebenden Magnet-Globen eine „funktionierende“ Gravity Gun aus Portal gebaut, mit der man Companion Cubes durch die Gegend tragen kann. Theoretisch jedenfalls und praktisch vielleicht auch, wenn man vorsichtig ist.
I was out to lunch with a couple friends, brainstorming ideas for fun projects when one of them says “Wouldn’t it be cool if we could build a working gravity gun?”. We all immediately concurred that while it would in fact be cool, it is also a silly proposition. However, only a few seconds later, I realized we could do a display piece that emulated this concept very easily. Floating magnetic globes have been around for quite some time.
I determined I would tear the guts out of a stock floating globe and mount it on a portal gun, since they’re easier to find than a gravity gun.

Portal Lego-Concept
Auf Cuusoo, Legos offizieller Community-Website für Fan-Modelle, kann man derzeit über ein Portal-Lego-Set abstimmen. I want this so hard! Das erste offizielle Cuusoo-Modell, das tatsächlich produziert wurde, ist das Minecraft-Lego-Set, Portal ist also nicht wirklich unrealistisch und den spielerischen Bildungs-Gedanken haben Lego und Portal bereits gemeinsam.

The two seem to mix well, Lego and Portal, the basic bricks and tiles can easily and perfectly (with a little brickmath) replicate the standard setting of Portal, the iconic Testing Chambers. But for the more complex assets of the game, notably GLaDOS, there is satisfying level of difficulty, but still an elegant and representative translation. Lego and Portal will mesh nicely, each enhancing the other, the whole greater than the sum of it’s parts.
