Super Mario/Portal-Mashupgame is here!

 Youtube Direktmari0

Yes, it’s such fun. Play this, it’s awesome!

A complete from scratch recreation of Super Mario Bros. with a focus on perfectly imitating the feel the 1985 classic gave us. Then give Mario a portal gun, add puzzle game mechanics from Portal and there you go. And if that wasn’t crazy enough, play 4-player coop, with everyone having their own Portal gun!

Features
Complete recreation of SMB
Elements from Portal
Portal gun that shoots portals
4-player simultaneaous coop
Level Editor that was used to create the levels in the game
33 different hats
Downloadable Mappacks
Game modifiers for extra fun

Portal 2 PotatOS Science-Kit

If you missed the children’s Science Fair at Aperture Labs, no worries! We’ve packaged nearly everything you need in this handy PotatOS Science Kit. The kit even includes a miniature science fair poster with brand new content from Valve’s writing team! Why “nearly everything,” you ask? You’ll have to provide your own potato, but we’re sure you have one nearby. Follow the directions and in minutes you’ll turn a mild-mannered Russet potato into your very own PotatOS that lights up and will insult you, just like old times.

Portal Cookie Cutters

Think Geek verkauft Plätzchenformen aus den Aperture Laboratories.

At Aperture Science, there’s a good amount of joking amongst test subjects and occasionally, if you’re lucky, you can joke around Cave Johnson himself. Just do not, under any circumstances, bring his mother into the mix. Got it? No “your mom” jokes. No “Yo Mama” jokes. Not even a “That’s what she said.” Cave’s very sensitive about those.

The penalty for joking about Cave’s mom? No cookies. That’s right, you’ll find your Aperture Science Holiday Gift Package is missing the sandwich baggie of Mrs. Johnson’s Made From Scratch Science Cookies. Then you’ll have to watch everyone else enjoying delicious frosted sugar cookies in the shapes of familiar faces around Aperture Labs.

Mario Portals Speedrunning

I. can’t. wait! Könnte eins der spaßigsten Indie-Games überhaupt werden.

GlaDOS Hairthing

„It’s crazy detailed. It has little pipes and panels and logos etc, which are all amazing and adorable.“ Super!

(Not yet) Playable Super Mario-Portal

- Yes, this is an actual game being developed – it is not a mod of any existing one. It’s coded with Löve (info at the bottom of the left menu) and will be released for free (so we don’t get stabbed by lawyers)
- All the source code of the game will be available after release
- The game will have mappacks, which will be downloadable from ingame. Users most likely won’t be able to publish maps directly, but will be able to send them in and we’ll add them for everyone to use.
- The primary maps will have a story and some portaly puzzles. What kind, well, we’ll figure that out as we go
- Level editor will be embedded in the game so you can edit the level while you play
- Original SMB levels and Lost levels will be included
- Simultaneous Multiplayer
- The game will be playable on Windows, OSX and various Linux based systems.

Norvig vs. Chomsky and the Fight for the Future of AI | Tor.com: Recently, Peter Norvig, Google’s Director of Research and co-author of the most popular artificial intelligence textbook in the world, wrote a webpage extensively criticizing Noam Chomsky. Their disagreement points to a revolution in artificial intelligence that, like many revolutions, threatens to destroy as much as it improves. Chomsky, one of the old guard, wishes for an elegant theory of intelligence and language that looks past human fallibility to try to see simple structure underneath. Norvig, meanwhile, represents the new philosophy: truth by statistics, and simplicity be damned. Disillusioned with simple models, or even Chomsky’s relatively complex models, Norvig has of late been arguing that with enough data, attempting to fit any simple model at all is pointless. The disagreement between the two men points to how the rise of the Internet poses the same challenge to artificial intelligence that it has to human intelligence: why learn anything when you can look it up?

(Vimeo Direktportal, via Martin)

We’ve named her Trudi. Judging by her head-to-body ratio, Trudi’s a baby turret.

Features:
- Authentic game dialogue
- Motion detector, so it knows when you’re there and when you’ve left
- Pressure sensor, so it knows when you’ve picked it up
- Tilt sensor, so it knows when you’ve knocked it over
- LED light-up eye
- Exaggerated features for extra adorableness

Portal Done Pro – Speedrun in 9:25 Minuten

(Youtube Direktportal, via Waxy)

Das Video ist das Ergebnis von 2 Jahren Arbeit und ein Zusammenschnitt seiner schnellsten Levels: „I completed the first segment on September 13, 2008, 06:12 AM and the last segment on July 03, 2010, 08:32 PM. Almost 2 years of working on this.“ Außerdem nutzt er einige Bugs im Game aus. Dennoch: Impressive. Most impressive!

This is it… Portal Done Pro. I, DemonStrate, beat Portal for the PC in under 10 minutes. From when I get out of bed, to the time I drop the final personality core into the furnace, the time is 9:25.567. It is the current world record for Portal completion time.

Much of the speedrun is sitting in the elevator. I have not calculated yet how much time I waste waiting for the elevators, but I’m sure it is probably a majority of the time. I segmented the speedrun per map. This means when the game says, “Loading…”, it is loading a new map, and I save the game and load from there. The only exceptions are Chambers 02 and 13.

This speedrun uses a majority of the glitches in the game. Unfortunately, it does not use the acute angle glitch, which might be the most useful glitch in the game, if used correctly. All other glitches are explained in my series of commentary videos here: Portal Done Pro – Commentary Video.

Portal Gun Replica

This is a replica of the Portal gun from Valve’s 2007 release of the same name. It had been created as an auction piece for the 2010 Child’s Play Charity event auction in Seattle, December 7th. This piece is a one off and is not for sale outside this charity auction.
