Schöner Kurzfilm von Kaleb Lechowski, grade mal 22jähriger Animationsstudent aus Berlin. Der Film hat hintenraus merklich Probleme mit dem Plot – die Hand rutscht aus der Schlinge? Rlly? – und das Timing stimmt da auch nicht mehr so richtig. Bleibt aber insgesamt dennoch mehr als nett.

Ich weise hier eigentlich nie auf konkrete P2P-Items hin und gehe davon aus, dass hier jeder so seine Quellen hat und zurecht kommt… aber das hier ist pures Gold:
Piratebay-User AmaHist postet grade eine auf Demonoid (vor seiner Schließung) angefangene Serie mit Sammlungen von SciFi-Filmen, von 1900 bis 1973, chronologisch sortiert, ab 1950 für jedes Jahr ein Torrent. Die Sammlung ist nicht komplett (es fehlen beispielsweise die „Invisible Man“-Sequels), aber eben extrem umfangreich und enthält unter anderem Serials wie „Undersea Kingdom“ oder die Buster Crabbe/Flash Gordon-Gesamtausgabe oder sowohl das Serial als auch den Film „The Phantom Creeps“ mit Bela Lugosi. Anders gesagt: Die Sammlung enthält jetzt schon jede Menge alter 50s-SciFikram, den ich nicht gesehen habe… und das will wirklich etwas heissen.
This series is year by year (in the early years, decade by decade) sets of sci-films from 1900 to 1973. The series was originally posted on the late lamented Demonoid. The series creator was still creating and posting the sets when Demonoid shut down. The series is too good to be lost so I’m reposting it.
I don’t know whether these torrents include all sci-fi films released in a particular year; I’m just reposting them. It’s my hope that the original poster will see these torrents being reposted and pick up where she/he left off.
The series is 46 files totaling 418GB. I can only seed a few at a time, so other users will have to continue seeding. I’ll seed each torrent until it’s well established, then post the next.

Stanislaw Lems One Human Minute: The Movie
Vor vier Jahren hat Zoltán Verebes aka Pater Sparrow Stanislaw Lems „One Human Minute“ („Eine Minute der Menschheit“) verfilmt. Ich hatte die Meldung dazu vor fünf Jahren bei den Filmfreunden gebloggt und seitdem nie wieder davon gehört, bis grade eben. Zoltán hat den Film nämlich komplett auf Youtube online gestellt, leider nur auf Ungarisch mit englischen Untertiteln. (Ich schaue zwar vorwiegend Filme im Original, aber nur solange ich die Sprache verstehe, also Englisch. Filme auf Japanisch oder eben Ungarisch finde ich eher anstrengend, aber ey: Es ist ein Lem!)

Stanislaw Lems Story ist eigentlich ein Review des fiktiven Buchs „Eine Minute der Menschheit“, das alle Geschehnisse beschreibt, die eben in dieser Minute auf der Erde passieren. Im Film füllt dieses Buch auf mysteriöse Weise einen kompletten Buchladen und ein paar Polizisten der Paranormalen Spezialeinheit finden heraus, was es damit auf sich hat. Quiet Earth hatte damals ein paar Stills und Moodboards aus dem Film, Snip:
Zoltán Verebes goes by the pseudonym Pater Sparrow who was famous for his short films in Hungary and went on to study at the London Film School. This is his first feature which is currently in post-production. Based on the work One Human Minute by world famous Polish scifi author Stanislaw Lem, the story unfolds somewhere in the 21st century.
“A bookshop renowned for its rare works is mysteriously and completely filled with copies of a book entitled 1, which doesn’t appear to have a publisher or author. Very Large Structure
Die Very Large Structure von Manuel Domínguez ist eine mobile Stadt, eine Mischung aus Flugzeugträger, AT-AT, Kreuzfahrtschiff und einem Riesenbagger und die Visuals dazu haben mich grade völlig weggeblasen. Die Präsentation des Teils gibt’s leider nur in Spanisch und noch viel schlimmer: Als Powerpoint-File. Ich hab daher ein paar Bilder daraus befreit und hier in eine kleine Galerie gepackt, einen Link zu Domínguez habe ich nirgends gefunden. Trotzdem Wahnsinn, alles!

Hier der erste Teil der Battlestar Galactica-Prequelserie „Blood & Chrome“. Die Serie kommt zunächst als Webisodes im Machinima-YT-Channel und hat dann im Februar TV-Premiere auf SyFy: „the webisodes will follow young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) during the first Cylon war. Young Adama will serve on the top-of-the-line (at the time) Battlestar Galactica, where he butts head with his co-pilot officer Coker (Ben Cotton).“
OMNI Mag complete for free at the Internet-Archive
Das Internet-Archive hat (fast) alle Ausgaben des OMNI SciFi-Mags als Download in allen gängigen Reader-Formaten. Die PDFs sind stellenweise ziemlich miserabel gescannt, zu den eBooks kann ich noch nix sagen. Aber bei Essays und Shortstorys von u.a. Isaac Asimov, Stanislaw Lem, Arthur C. Clarke, William Gibson, Ray Bradbury und Philip K. Dick bin ich natürlich sofort dabei und ich zieh’ mir das jetzt alles auf meinen Kindle. So.
In its early run, OMNI published a number of stories that have become genre classics, such as Orson Scott Card’s “Unaccompanied Sonata”, William Gibson’s “Burning Chrome” and “Johnny Mnemonic”, Harlan Ellison’s novella “Mefisto in Onyx”, and George R. R. Martin’s “Sandkings”. The magazine also published original sf/f by William S. Burroughs, Joyce Carol Oates, Jonathan Carroll, T. Coraghessan Boyle, and other mainstream writers. The magazine excerpted Stephen King’s novel Firestarter, and featured a short story, “The End of the Whole Mess”. OMNI also brought the works of numerous painters to the attention of a large audience, such as H. R. Giger, De Es Schwertberger and Rallé. In the early 1980s, popular fiction stories from OMNI were reprinted in “The Best of OMNI Science Fiction” series and featured art by space artists like Robert McCall.
Starlogs Star Wars-Rumors from the 80s: Darth Vader is not a robot
Seit Jahren suche ich einen möglichst kompletten Satz Scans des alten Starlog-Magazins, einem Schwestermagazin der Fangoria (von der ich alle Ausgaben als PDF hier rumfliegen habe, muss man mal was draus machen) über Science-Fiction und zwar genau für sowas: Mike Ryan hat sich für die HuffPo ins Starlog-Archiv einer Bücherei begeben und Gerüchte aufgeschrieben, die zwischen „Star Wars – A New Hope“ und „Empire strikes back“ oder kurz vor der Rückkehr von Kirk auf die Enterprise for „Star Trek – The Motion Picture“ die Runde machten. I love this crap. Hier ein paar meiner Favorites:
- I have just read an article on David Prowse. He said that not only will there be a “Star Wars” 3 and 4, but that it will go all the way up to 12. He says that George Lucas’ dream is to turn out 24 hours of “Star Wars” so people can go into a theater and stay for the whole day. He said it would take 22 years for it to happen. Could this be really true?
- A Hollywood trade newspaper recently reported that music for the new “Star Wars” film, “The Empire Strikes Back,” might introduce a newcomer to epic scoring: Mick Jagger, The item stated that Jagger had been asked to compose the score.
- Luke and C-3PO are captured by a horrendous alien (stop-motion animated, the story goes) who dumps them into a tank-like prison filled with a breathable liquid. The only way the alien can be killed (shades of Dracula) is to drive a metal stake through his heart. The only metal around, unfortunately, is C-3PO; and Luke melts the ‘driod down to fabricate the weapon.
