Jason Kottke hat gestern dieses Bild der Darsteller der Sesamstraße aus der ersten Staffel gespostet, da fiel mir ein, dass ich schon seit einer ganzen Weile dieses Bild der Puppenspieler aus der ersten Hallo Spencer-Staffel auf der Platte rumfliegen habe und Spencer mochte ich schon immer viel lieber, weil’s da einen fleischfressenden Drachen namens Poldi gab und ein superschlaues Alien namens Galaktika.

Feeding Hannibal, the Cannibal Food-Blog
Feeding Hannibal ist das Blog der Food Stylistin Janice Poon, die am Set der Serie Hannibal Speisen zubereitet und dort diese halb-deliziöse, halb-morbide Optik hinkriegt.
Ich mag die Serie ziemlich gerne, bin eigentlich sehr überrascht, wie gut die tatsächlich ist und find’s ziemlich großartig, dass grade Hannibal The Cannibal die beste Koch-Show im Fernsehen hat.
In ihrem Blog erklärt Janice Poon unter anderem, wie sie Beef fake-vergammeln lies (weil die Familie beim Essen ermordet und erst Wochen später gefunde wurden) oder wie man Lamm-Zungen zubereitet. Das Gericht auf dem Bild rechts nennt sich übrigens Octopus and its babies eating crow. Jetzt hab’ ich Hunger.
No matter how ghoulish, I want the food to look like something you really want to taste –against your better judgment. Every character in this show is on a knife-edge. Will teeters on the edge of sanity; Hannibal balances between truth and lies; Jack is cold, then kind. I want the food also to have the tension of precarious balance: repellant but tempting. Slightly off-center.
Prepping for the dinner scene, I hand-shape the tongues individually out of a modified Kibbeh recipe – bulgar ground with beef stock and mild spices. I make them bigger than lamb tongues because I want them to look like children’s tongues – out of the mouth of babes. (FBI babes?) Then I steam them and shade them with food coloring. I make 60 which luckily, turns out to be exactly the right amount. If the director had asked for one more take I would have been in trouble. Sometimes you get lucky…

YAY! Graham Linehan hat auf der Republica bekanntgegeben, dass er die beste Serie aller Zeiten – natürlich IT Crowd! – nochmal für ein TV-Special zurückbringen wird. Wahrscheinlich das wichtigste Info-Bit von der Republica überhaupt und es ist natürlich bezeichnend fürs deutsche Netz, dass ich (weil ich die Session verpasst habe) diese Meldung in einem englischen Blog lesen muss. Egal, IT Crowd kommt nochmal, yay! Und hoffentlich gibt’s Auftritte von Denholm und Richmond!
Series creator and writer of the Channel 4 sitcom set in a company’s IT department, Graham Linehan just announced during an IT Crowd Q&A at German conference re:publica that the long-teased special, which he has previously stated will serve as the finale to the series, will be filmed in three weeks’ time.
The script for the forty-minute special was written over a year ago, but the actors, including Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Chris O’Dowd and Matt Berry, have been too busy with other filming commitments – and in one case a pregnancy – to work on it until now.

Großartige Podcast-Serie auf Slate von Matthew Yglesias über die Wirtschaft in Game Of Thrones. Überhaupt: Habt Ihr die Folge vom Wochenende gesehen? Mother of Dragons, fuck yeah! Jedenfalls: Wirtschaft, Drachen und Gold… die dritte Folge des Podcasts bezieht sich halbwegs direkt auf die letzte Folge und den Markt der Drachen. Großartig!

There are very few dragon sales happening, so the price of dragons hinges entirely on the idiosyncratic decision-making leading up to a single transaction. Nobody knows what price a dragon would fetch if Daenerys tried to offer it up at a widely publicized auction. What we know (from the books where the transaction is spelled out in more detail) is that Kraznys Mo Nakloz is willing to trade 1,000 Unsullied for the goods carried by the Vhagar, the Meraxes, and the Balerion and to trade 1,000 more for the three ships themselves. But for her plan to work, Daenerys needs to buy all 8,600 Unsullied. Krazynys agrees to sell the whole lot for the three ships, their contents, and a single dragon. Hence a dragon is worth 6,600 Unsullied, a ship is worth 333 Unsullied, and thus a dragon is worth approximately 20 ships.
Spoilers are involved in the details, but from the books we know that Sallador San has at least 29 ships left after the Battle of Blackwater, so in pure financial terms, three dragons does not seem to make House Targaryen all that rich compared to the great houses of Westeros. Certainly, though, it’s valuable property.
