Google hat auf dem SXSW-Festival einen sprechenden nervenden Schuh vorgestellt. Oder wie’s ein YT-Kommentator formuliert: „Forever alone.“
Using an accelerometer, a gyroscope, Bluetooth and some other off the shelf technologies, the Talking Shoe translates the wearer’s movements into funny, motivating and timely commentary. The things it says can be posted to Google+ by the user, sent to real-time ad units, if the user chooses to, and broadcast via onboard speakers. It can talk to the world and to the web.
Every move the user makes generates data that’s captured using an accelerometer, gyroscope and pressure sensors. That data then gets pushed to a web app on your mobile phone and translated in real-time into funny and motivating commentary. That commentary then gets pushed to banners and social media, creating new, interesting content in the digital world from something happening live in the physical one.

Rayfish Footwear is a fictional company that offered personalized sneakers crafted from genetically modified stingray leather. The launch of the company website http://www.rayfish.com catalyzed a debate on emerging biotechnologies and the products it may bring us. It also questioned our consumptive relationship with animals and products in general.
While such discussions often remain abstract, we aimed to make them tangible in a concrete product you can love or hate.

Genau das hat die Welt gebraucht: Ein sprechender Turnschuh (freudscher Vertipper grade: „brechender“), der mir mit jedem Schritt erzählt, dass Filesharer verdammte Diebe seien. Bad Idea.

Die Sneaker sind grade nochmal eine ganze Ecke absurder geworden: Am Wochenende sind Tierrechts-Aktivisten in die Bude von Rayfish Footwear eingebrochen, haben die Gen-Rochen befreit und ins Meer geschmissen. You can’t make this shit up!
Meine Originalquelle Dezeen hat sein Posting mit der Meldung aus irgendeinem Grund gelöscht und ich finde nur ein weiteres Posting auf Newsday.com, kann also sein, dass das alles Bullshit und ein Viral oder ähnliches ist. But I want to believe!

RayFish Footwear, a family-run company based in Thailand, has been raising bio-customized stingrays for more than a decade with plans to turn them into leather shoes. By implanting synthetic genes based on color patterns of other animals into fetal stingrays, the company has been able to raise rays with predetermined, one-of-a-kind patterns.
An unknown group of animal rights activists broke into the company’s facilities Sunday, destroying equipment and sneakers and, according to a YouTube video documenting the break-in, releasing living stingrays into the ocean.
“Does it worry me that genetically engineered stingrays are now free in the ocean, free to be eaten by predators and free to interbreed with wild populations? Absolutely,“ RayFish CEO Raymond Ong said in a video response.

Jemand hat die Doku „Sneakers – Just for the Kicks“, die neulich auf Arte lief, bei Youtube hochgeladen. Die Doku hat zwar bereits fünf Jahre auf dem Buckel, das haben meine Lieblingssneaker allerdings auch, sie sehen entsprechend aus und ich muss mir diese Woche sehr, sehr dringend neue kaufen, weil: Die fallen mir echt mittlerweile in Einzelteilen von den Füßen. Da kommt mir das hier grade recht. Am 8. Mai läuft um 3:50 Uhr morgens nochmal eine Wiederholung, Snip:

Here is a list of what had to be done:
1. Dismantle the amp and speakers
2. Meticulously take apart the control panel, switches, nodules and input sockets (checking at each stage to make sure things still worked – and solving any problems)
3. Mark on the sneakers where I was going to cut out the holes for the speaker cones, and then very carefully cut out using a scalpel
4. Gut the inside of the sole unit to fit the amp and mark the outside of the midsole to fit all the volume controls and LED (again making sure all was still working)
5. Mark and cut out the holes for the on/off switch and the audio input/output sockets
6. Design the wooden stands, cut them out, sand, clean, varnish and assemble them
7. Attach the sneakers and run the power cables through the stands
8. Fit the speakers and rig all the wires with a soldering iron and heat seal shrink rubber tubing (of which there were about 30 soldered joints)
9. Make bespoke phono cables, as standard cables are just black
10. Add a small plaque, depicting what does what on the sneaker control panel

Hier das Commercial zu den kommenden Star Wars-Sneaker dieser Firma mit den drei Streifen. Die Treter mailt ihr mir seit einem Monat und ich lehne immer dankend ab, weil ich Konzernkram nur dann bringe, wenn er outstanding ist, und Star Wars-Latschen sind nun wirklich nichts neues, deshalb müsst ihr den Link zu den Tretern auch selber googeln.
Dieses Commercial hat aber nicht nur die Pfeiffen Snoop Dog und Beckham am Start sondern auch DJ Neil Armstrong, den ich nicht kenne, und Daft Punk. Vader vs Daft Punk, holy fuck!
