Ziemlich grandioses Stopmotion-Video der Hunter College High School zu Cheers Elephants tollen Song Leaves. Ich hab in den letzten Jahren ziemlich viele dieser Videos gesehen und das hier dürfte eins der besten sein, ich mag vor allem, dass sie sich auf die eine Idee konzentriert, die technisch sauber und mit viel Witz umgesetzt haben, dann hintenraus trotzdem ein bisschen Schnickschnack einbauten, ohne das ganze ausfransen zu lassen. Für ein Schulprojekt ist das ziemlich großartig, Respekt!

Vor vier Jahren animierte Guillaume Reymond Tetris in ‘nem Kino, vor zwei Jahren machte er dasselbe mit Pacman. Jetzt hat er jede Menge Leute in ein Hochhaus gesperrt und daraus die tolle Stopmotion-Animation oben gebastelt.
A giant human and architectural performance realized by NOTsoNOISY Guillaume Reymond and Trivial Mass Production. The 11 floors tower of the HESAV (Health High School Vaud) has been animated as a rudimentary screen whose pixels are, in fact, all the windows and shutters that students, staff and friends shake for hours.

Seit Noah Kalina vor sechs Jahren sein Daily Fratze-Video ins Netz stellte, gab’s ungefähr dreitausend Nachahmer. Thisnomyp holt aus dem Thema dann aber mit ein paar Stopmotion-Einlagen (auch wenn er ein bisschen bescheisst, beim Tattoo etwa) doch noch ein paar neue Bilder aus der Idee raus. Das Original-Video ist wegen Bullshits geogefickt, aus irgendwelchen magischen Gründen hat das Teil aber jemand grade bei Dailymotion hochgeladen.

This is a stop motion video I made to document my process of crocheting one of my larger than life portraits in yarn from start to finish. In my work I use a traditional basic crochet technique taught to me at an early age by my Gran. I work one knot at a time, from the inside out, row by row. In making the crochet portraits I always begin in the middle with the eyes and work out from there until the piece is completed. I work directly from photographs, using no sketches, graphs or computer imaging. Each piece is handmade, labour-intensive, instinctively composed. Nothing is planned ahead; I make it up as I go along. I spend a lot of time simply looking, unraveling, and reworking until I get it right. To make this video I photographed the work after each new yarn colour or two was added, and edited the photos into a sequence. This 30 second sequence contains over 300 photos of the work in progress. The portrait is of my dear friend Arthur Cheesman, who is sadly no longer with us.
Phil Tippetts Mad God

Phil Tippett ist ‘ne FX-Legende, hat den ED209 entworfen und animiert und er brachte den AT-ATs in Empire das Laufen bei. Großer Mann. Und der erfüllt sich jetzt einen lange gehegten Traum und setzt sein Projekt “Mad Gods” um, einen Stop Motion-Animationsfilm, der damals alle FX-Techniken vereinen sollte und den er mit Aufkommen von CGI unvollendet in den Schrank gestellt hatte. Der Film ist bereits über Kickstarter finanziert und soll im Dezember fertig sein und wird dann wohl in der ein oder anderen Form im Netz veröffentlicht.
With his work on the “Star Wars” movies, Tippett carved his own niche as a modern master of stop motion. In 1984 he created his own studio where he continued to explore and innovate using stop motion.
MAD GOD began with several minutes of stop motion animation in 1990, before the explosion of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) for movies. But as his studio blossomed into a powerhouse of computer-assisted visual effects and animation, the MAD GOD project fell on the back burner. After sitting on the shelf for 20 years, artists at Tippett Studio implored Phil to revive MAD GOD.
Incorporating footage shot before the surge of CGI with new puppets, scenes, environments, and in-camera effects, Phil is directing while mentoring an entire new generation in traditional stop motion animation and creature fabrication.

Großartiger Kurzfilm von Mikey Please über die Beschleunigung der Wahrnehmung von Zeit im Verlauf eines ganzen Lebens. Komplett in Monochrom/Weiß und animiertem Schaumstoff gehalten wirkt der Film sehr artyfarty, ist aber auf so ‘ne Art flapsig erzählt, dass er trotz des sperrigen Themas und Kunstanspruchs ganz einfach riesigen Spaß macht. Dafür hat er absolut verdient drei Millionen Preise gewonnen.
Peter’s life has been spent in both fascination and fear of his quickening perception of time with age. As he nears the end of his days, his interest turns to obsession and he undertakes progressively extreme measures to control and counter times increasing pace. Peter also discovers that if you repeat the word ‘fly’ for long enough it sounds like you’re saying ‘life’. This is of no real help to him. His answers lie in the brain of a beetle.
The Eagleman Stag is the BAFTA award winning Royal College of Art thesis film of director writer Mikey Please. Animated in monochrome stopmotion, the film consists of 115 separate sets made mostly of a mysterious white material, not previously know to have been used for stopmotion animation, found in the back of a cushion.
