Till Nowak schickt mir seinen grade online veröffentlichte Mockumentary über Denkbeschleunigung über Zentrifugalkraftverstärkung durch Karussells und Achterbahnen und schreibt mir: „After more than a year of international film festivals and more than 20 international awards today is the online release of this 7 minute short documentary about bizarre experiments with amusement park rides“. Alles ziemlicher Wahnsinn. Auch toll: Auf der Website zum Film gibt’s die Pläne zu den Fahrgeschäften in halbwegs HighRes.

The circular area in the center of the opening picture above is “The Abyss.” This structural art piece is filled with Israeli military vehicles, helmets, boots, bombs and bullets captured from the Israeli army between 1982 and the July War of 2006. The display is intended to graphically represent the political and military morass in which Israel supposedly finds itself in regarding Hezbollah. At the center of the display is an Israeli Merkava-4 tank, with the barrel of its main gun symbolically tied in a knot.

Bei Flickr gibt es eine wirklich extrems beeindruckende Fotosammlung des verlassenen “Six Flags” Vergnügungsparks nahe New Orleans. Klar dürfte sein, dass hier ordentlich am HDR-Regler herumgespielt wurde, was aber nichts daran ändern, dass die Bilder auf eine vergängliche Weise schon eine gewisse Faszination ausüben. Marco bloggt eigentlich auf Minds Delight und kennt sich mit verlassenen Vergnügungsparks aus, war er als Jungmensch doch mitunter auch Besucher des Spreeparks in Berlin.

Abandoned Six Flags Themepark in New Orleans
Sehr schönes Flickr-Set von Brynne Photography aus dem Six Flags Themepark in New Orleans, der seit der Überflutung nach Hurrikan Katrina einsam und verlassen vor sich hinrottet.
Eastern New Orleans was badly flooded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The park grounds are located on a low-lying section of Eastern New Orleans, with a 6-foot earthen flood berm running along the perimeter, creating an artificial basin. After the park’s drainage pumps failed during the storm, the berm retained the combination of rainwater and sea water overflow from Lake Pontchartrain caused by Katrina’s massive storm surge, submerging the entire park grounds in corrosive, brackish floodwater to a depth of 4–7 feet. The floodwater was not drained for over a month. Due to the damage received, the park has been and is currently closed.

Dubais Marvel Theme-Park Concept-Arts doomed by Finanzkrise
Gestern sind Concept Arts zum 2007 angekündigten Marvel Theme-Park in Dubai aufgepoppt.
Late 2007, United Arab Emirate-based Al Ahli Group and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced a partnership that will bring Marvel’s full library of Super Heroes – including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The X-Men, Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer – to Dubai for a major new theme park destination being developed by AAG. The Marvel Super-Heroes theme park project was supposed to open in 2011 with an investment of over $1 billion USD but apparently it seems that it will open now in 2012.
Jetzt weiß ich ja nicht, wie’s Euch geht, wenn Ihr an Dubai denkt… mir gehen da vor allem die 3000 verrottenden Autos am Flughafen dort durch den Kopf, die von fliehenden Arbeitern einfach stehengelassen wurden, weil die Krise schon damals dort zuschlug. Das Thema ist ja auch schon jetzt in den vergangenen Tagen in den deutschen Medien gelandet, nur 9 Monate später.
Ob aus dem Projekt jemals etwas werden wird, ist bei der derzeitigen Entwicklung mehr als unwahrscheinlich, schließlich haben die im Moment grade erstmal verbal eine Staatspleite abgewendet, in dem sie eben keinen Bailout für ihr marodes Dubai World zur Verfügung stellen werden. Vielleicht und hoffentlich bleiben uns ab jetzt gefakete Luxusbilder aus dem Schein-Emirat in Zukunft erspart. Nett sind die Concept Arts aber trotzdem und einen Marvel Theme-Park dieser Ausmaße würde ich schon gerne sehen, aber das sind wohl leider Schäume und Träume wie Jetpacks und Flying Cars.

South Korea To Build Robot-Themed Parks By 2013, Destruction Of Human Race Ensues
I question how a robot-themed amusement park is going to complement the future Seoul Eco-Commune of 2026, but whatever, they didn’t ask for my opinion. Besides, if the robot parks are a success, Korea won’t need an Eco-Commune in 2026 because everyone will be dead. Robotic destruction prophecies aside, the South Korean government plans to build two robot-themed parks near Seoul by 2013. The $1.6 billion venture is all part of a program to position the country as the world’s robotic mecca. Other initiatives include placing a robot in every household by 2020 and a recently drafted Robot Ethics Code, which lays down the law as to what constitutes robotic abuse, etc. Yes, I’m being serious.
